by Tangerine S. on THis is the best place to go in NYC to get your Bhangra on!!!! I been a regular here for many years. The drinks are a great value as they actually pour the alcohol (heavy). Im not sure if its the same for all. Maybe being a pretty female helps the bartenders hand pour? See you next month (first Thursday).
by Dudley Banet on We went because my son and I love Masahara on the Iron Chef program. We went for lunch in the middle of the week, several months ago. We were late getting there, close to the time that they stop serving lunch. The place was almost empty, maybe only 3 or 4 other tables taken. The waitress couldn't wait to take our order, to the point that it was almost impossible to get her to describe any of the dishes. We asked for a little more time to decide and she was very upset. She came back to the table in about two minutes. Unfortunately, she never returned that quick during the remainder of the meal, it took ten minutes to get a wine refill. The food was great but no better than Nobu but the prices did not seem as bad as Nobu. The design was 70's zoomy scando-japanese via Karim Rashid's distorted mind. It probably would have been better if there were lots of people there, otherwise it looked a little like a smorgasbord lounge at the Copenhagen train station during my college trip to Europe in 1974.
