i spent almost $50 on dinner, no drinks, but only because im a BIG eater. I had the calamari salad (HUGE and the calamari was really crunchy and good) and the filet served with wasabi mashed potatoes- AWESOME but a little pricey at 28.  service- not that great, although i did, i didnt feel the need to tip 20%, sat downstairs in a regular booth, try across the street for awesome dessert-- sweet endings or scoops de ville for great ice cream with TONS of toppings

As I started my whole clubbing experience in San Diego, I can only compare any club/lounge here with what I'm familiar with. Roe had a rude guestlist lady that liked to target their victim. Darn. I actually liked the place and wouldn't mind going back at all if it wasn't for her. Plus the review I posted had some promoter being verbally offensive towards me. No one can drag me back. Icon had surprisingly nicer management though it's obvious they're nice because you're paying for the bottle service. At least, no yelling, no rude remarks and no finding victims to chew on. For the most part, they were accommodating and they were on top of cleaning our area, removing glasses, etc. Despite the fact that the 3 tables (stool like surfaces) were small, nothing broke. Pretty amazing huh. Our party was pretty big... in the range of 18-20 people. Bill was around 625-650 for 2 bottles (goose and patron) and 2 fake champagne (yeah, I was definitely tipsy but I had to check.... they definitely tried to pass off sparkling wine as champagne but we weren't expecting the champagne to start with so it didn't ruin it for me).  Most of us didn't need to pay cover so I gave them a huge plus for the 20 slots for our guest list. It was the reason that we went with them. The asian bartender girl was very cute. Place was clean. I only saw one bathroom but I know there were others elsewhere. Crowd were a mix black/white. Aside from us, I barely saw any Asians. It was definitely not our scene (we're mostly young asian professionals, i.e. engineers, analysts, bankers) but I have to say, the clubbers were all very nice and I had no problem talking to anyone. (But then again, I'm always super friendly and flirty when I have a few drinks...) As our group was pretty big, I had a blast as there were really not a dull moment as I spent my time talking to all our friends. I felt bad for the uneven guy-girl ratio and didn't want anyone to felt left out so I was going all over the place. I think I may have had my first bi moment haha. My boyfriend was very amused. Place was crowded but not overly so as some of the places I've been to in SD and LA (packed like sardines!). I was so scared that I'd hate it here because all the reviews mentioned the size of this place. It's not big but it's definitely a decent size. I bought my sister and a girl friend a long island (3 for $30) + $5 tip and later 2 shots of patron and a cranberry vodka (with goose) for another $30 + $5 so prices are decent. All in all. It was worth it and I had a great time with friends. I wouldn't come in a small party though as it wasn't my type of crowd.

An unexpected delight in the J-town area of downtown LA.  Bordello has everything one may need, a seedy yet swank feel, downtown prices, great bar staff, and burlesque dancers. Its not the biggest place and at times can get extremely crowded and just walking about may pose a bit of a problem.  The bar is small, but effective.  I think this is attributed to the great bartenders.  They crank out the drinks and serve them out quickly, so the next person in line can move up.  Its like a well oiled machine. Tunes are great, in between the burlesque shows they play a mix of 80's rock to current pop hits.  The dancers that put on the show are nothing short of entertaining. The only qualm I had about Bordello is I was getting the feeling that they are trying to portray itself as a club or ultra lounge.  I didn't pay a cover charge because I was on a "guestlist".  They should keep the guestlist for priority entrance only and get rid of the cover charge, unless its a special event, e.g. live band, etc.  I get more of a bar feel from Bordello and it should be operated accordingly. Other than that, Bordello is a great place to enjoy a cocktail. Cheers!!!
