by Chris B. on MJQ is the hole in the wall club that embraces its dark, grungeness and says F U to all the pretentious I want to be seen clubs out there. No glitz, No glam just good music, good people, good times. A very, very diverse hipster bar so to speak. I have been to MJQ twice on my visits to Atlanta and both times it did not dissappoint. The first time I went for a School of Seven Bells and Tealights concert. The speaker system wasn't the best but the crowd and performers were awesome. (btw TEALIGHTS rock!!) The second time I went to MJQ was on a friday night and again a good time was had by all. The mainroom is more packed but has live performers. I mainly stayed in the break dancing room because it has more room to just chill and dance. Don't judge a book by its cover and be intimidated by this place.
by Jose Want on Whenever I have too many citron and soda's within the vicinity of good music, my inner stripper comes out to dance. No, I don't actually start stripping, (nor have I ever been a stripper), but my inner wild child has always wondered what it would be like to fly around a pole in nothing more than 4 inch heels while men throw money at me. All of that aside, I genuinely love to shake my tail-feather and a place like Vessel with tables you are encouraged to dance upon puts me in a very crazy-sexy-fun mood. And kudos to the bartender with the huge fro who took excellent care of me. I tip especially well at crowded clubs to ensure I don't have to wait around, and this guy was one hell of a bartender. No matter how many people were lined up in front of him he always instantly caught my eye, made me a drink, and handed it through the crowd. He was not light handed on the pour either, and oh my goodness I was hurtin' the next morning. So Vessel, your tables make awesome dance platforms, your staff rocks, and aside from the one e-tard twirling on the dance floor I can't find any reason to give you less than a glowing 5 star review.
