One of the very best happy hour deals in the city. During the week, drinks are half price til 9--which basically means that for a ridiculous $6, you can get a phenomenal cocktail made with the freshest ingredients you could imagine. From their signature cocktail for which they use fresh chunks of the watermelons kept on the bar, to other fab concoctions like the PYT which involves muddled mint and fresh berries, to pretty much every other delicious flavor profile you could crave, Ella is consistently a great place to imbibe. This ain't your average bar and these ain't your average bartenders--they're definitely more like well-versed mixologists who know what they're doing. --Bonus points for a live band on Friday nights til 11--Im talking old school in the style of Jersey Boys and all the ole' greats. Downstairs dance floor, when it's open, is also a black and white tiled floor trip.

I simply Love Johnny Brendas! For a "dive" bar the food is pretty damn good, and they have a decent vegetarian selection. Of course the shows are great, I've found many a new bands here and I've never had a bad time. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is laid-back, and just a great place to spend the night. Their beer selection game can be stepped up a notch but it's not even that bad, and certainly not enough to get a minus. Yeah, just good times all around. Check it out for a random show one night, it'll be good times I'm sure.

People don't fall for the hype of this place like I did!! If you value your time and money I would definitely try somewhere else. I got here at 10:15 PM and the line was wrapped around the building already. They weren't letting anybody in yet but apparently discounted guestlist closes at 10:30 PM. Does that even make sense? Why even offer a guestlist line when they hold the line!! What added to our frustration was two of our friends bought tables (minimum two bottles/table) and can we still get in? NO! Not even paying full price they would let us in. They ushered us out of the VIP line and told us either to go somewhere else or get in the gigantic nonexistent guestlist line that has grown twice as big since we first got there. After finally managing to get ourselves in somehow I was ready to see what the big deal about this place. Eh okay so this place is nicer than most sf bars but does that really matter? Place was small and cramped with no room to dance. After a while of standing around and sipping on drinks we all went home. All in all we spent longer trying to get in then actually staying in the club.
