by Scott B. on I thoroughly enjoyed myself at Parish. The decor is beautiful. I love the chipped paint, the huge chandeliers and the heavy draperies. The service was excellent. From the moment we entered the host/manager made us feel at home. Our server Jake was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The drinks were perfectly made and the food was great. I had the crispy pork. The pork was tender and served over stewed okra with cornbread. It was incredible. The only thing that I felt was missing was rice. However, my plate was still cleaned. My buddy had the stuffed catfish which I tasted. I definitely will be ordering that entree on my next visit. Lastly, we ordered the peaches and cream bread pudding. OMG....heaven on a plate. All in all, I did not have one complaint about Parish. I am a definite fan!
by Lance Emmel on I had a very fun thursday night here. Was quite crowded for a thursday night, but nonetheless, it was very refreshing to not worry about little kids running and screaming around the exhibits. The cocktails were moderately priced: $8-10, beer: $5-7. I especially enjoyed the music, which was a suave type of house or techno.. I felt like I was in a lounge, but instead of looking at gold-fish tanks in a lousy bar, we were able to see huge tanks of sharks and sting-rays. My favorite exhibits were the jellyfish tank, starfish petting area, and the penguins.. gotta love those adorable creatures! They were having a valentines-day special, and at every large exhibit, there was an academy rep speaking through a microphone about how the animals on display behind them make love --haha. Not sure if I'd go back again, since I basically finished all the exhibits in 1.5 hrs, and there's probably not much else new to discover.. But I definitely had a great time and was pleasantly surprised that I only paid $10 for admission (cheaper than some cover charges for clubs) TIP: buy your tickets online beforehand, its cheaper and you dont have to wait in line!
