by Kristin F. on Red is my favorite color and I like sparkle-y things, so that is one of the reasons I like being inside Rouge. It's also close to home, on Polk (love the bars all along the way, from Bullit to Hemlock), and right by a pizza place. Pretty good situation. What people don't realize about Rouge is that it's an awesome spot to host private parties and hold concerts. So, last night I had the privilege (believe me, if you saw this, you'd realize it truly was a privilege) of attending and helping to host Cal's MBA program's "Jersey Shore" juiced out meat head party. It was not only a lot of fun, but the crowd was cool and the outfits were intense. The crew was able to set up a photo both (I have pics with TJ and Rebekah that I need to scan!) on the platform where a band would be and where there are usually Nick's Crispy Tacos tables (the platform is also a fun place to dance and hang out). The photo both was awesome and definitely added a lot to the Jerz event :) Fist pump As far as the music goes, they have the space (that platform I was talking about) and the equipment to hold music people. Some friends of mine are coming into town next week and I was able to orchestrate a concert in one day at Rouge on Thursday. It will be an hour set or so, but nevertheless it's great to be able to organize something so easily! They're really open to fun ideas, such as a game night on Wednesdays (I love my Yahtzee).
by jessica p. on This place is AWESOME, after hearing that it was best of Philly, I was afraid that my expectations were too high. Well my expectations were met and exceeded. Food is great, service is great, price isn't too bad for what you get. Next time I go, I'll probably just get the hummus and salatim. Don't get me wrong - everything else was great, but the starter was the star of the show!
by Wynona Perper on okay, i think there is sort of an unwritten Rateclub rule that you aren't supposed to judge a place just off of one freak horrible thing or whatever, but i have to at this moment. They kicked my boyfriend out just because he was standing next to an underage kid drinking a beer. And they kicked our other underage friend out too, who was also just innocently standing there. the manager would not listen to reason, and every staff person we spoke with was intimidating, unreasonable, and seemed to derive pleasure in my pain. also, the stage was not good, and i had a fear of the building sinking and/or collapsing in the brief time i was there. boo.
