by Abel Ridel on My poor ears! I'll be deaf by the time I hit 50. Working in Hollywood every weekend for oh 3+ years and my ears are used to loud music for hours, but I stepped out of Space this past Friday for PVD and my ears wouldn't stop ringing!! Great sound system made for even greater music. The music was pretty amazing, 3rd/4th time seeing PVD and he has yet to let me down. The terrace is the place to be until the sun starts to come up. Then you flee like vampires to continue on with your night..if you get there later in the night supposedly they wont let you up. The downstairs is just like an other massive club..so many people it was hard to get around...I didn't even want to use the restroom. Pro: Serving alcohol all night so that the party never stops. Con: Ringing ears. WMC 2009!! .love.
by Eldridge Hawke on You kno what possibly might be the worst job in the world? YES! its the bongo-banging drummer boy at the Tao restaurant! I wonder what the job description entailed? WANTED: Exciting oppurtunity for a musician to perform club tempo rhythmic beats for an upscale restaurant whose clientele includes everyone from A-list celebrities to wall street professionals! Sucker! Anyways bongo beat boy just stood there behind me beating his bongos as i dined. Hey say that 3 times fast. Annoying me in an already decibel-filled atmosphere. Besides that i thought the food was pretty good...the price is not as high as i heard it to be. I love the decor and the trendiness. However get rid of bongo boy and please lower the volume on the music....seriously do we need to be clubbing at the same time we be eating? i say not. And also i thought the men's pisser was unique. Its almost troft-like. Basically u piss on a glass wall with a stream of water coming down it...washing away the urine into whereever urine n crap go to. Oh and the behind this glass wall there is light...so u clearly get to see the wee wee of the guy pissing next to u and admire his stream of urine. Nice!
by Sam P. on I had such a sad night of nostalgia at The Park last Sunday. While I will always love Hiro on Sunday nights ( http://www.rateclubs.com/bi...), it is just too hot down there during the summer. So, in an attempt, perhaps, to relive some of my wilder nights during my first few months in New York, I grabbed a few good friends and we returned to The Park. Now, as Heather H found out, The Park used to be THE Sunday night destination for the boys. Oh the nights I have had there. Even when Hiro was just getting started, The Park was still going strong. So imagine my surprise to walk into a COMPLETELY EMPTY Park at 11:30pm on a Sunday night....sigh...Johnny McGovern, where art thou!? Wild gay boys aside, The Park is still a beautiful, beautiful space, and apparently a pretty good restaurant. Gabby D is spot on calling it the West Side B-bar. Although, I think it's a little classier. Food is good, definitely overpriced, as are drinks. But I had a lovely evening with my boys sipping vodka gimlets and reminiscing. Clearly we ended up at Hiro later anyway...
