by Giuseppe Musacchia on One thing I resent about going to shows at most other venues is that I am often irrelegated to an expensive garage for fear that some meth freak will break in if I park on the street. While there are a few garages close to Bimbo's, you can safely park on the street. It is in North Beach after all--a tried and true WASP nest. You dig? Coming from the Peninsula, it's a trek cause this is at the North Eastern edge of SF. Well worth it though. The facade and interior are really beautiful. This venue had a classy atmosphere, like a strange half way between Art Decco and something Nautical? That's the best I can do, it's its own thing. Bimbo's ended up being a great place to see Slint, a band who's moody music was nicely complemented by its atmosphere. I really appreciate that they usually have only one or two opening bands before the headliner cause waiting to see "the people you came to see" can be a gruling affair. I'm looking forward to seeing live music here again sometime in the future.
by Nancy H. on i went here this past friday for our two friends birthdays. the place was nicely decorated inside. tables are on the outer edges of the club, there's only one bar, and then a dance floor. fyi...this place is really small. it was free because we were on the gl. the crowd was mostly asian (since everyone knew each other), the music was mostly hip hop. thumbs down for hard to find parking.
