There's no better way to spend a rainy afternoon than sitting by a fire with a few bites to eat while relaxing and browsing the internet. In the tendernob. In May. It was on this wet but mild (at least compared to the icy wind of last weekend) Saturday afternoon that I found myself in the outstanding Sugar Cafe. Excellent eats, including an awesome turkey wrap with a hint of berry cream cheese and a gigantic parfait loaded with fruit, nonfat yogurt and granola. Loaded. The $10 lunch special gets you a sandwich, coffee (there was no problem paying a bit more to get a latte) and dessert. I've nibbled on what tastes like a delicious brownie, saving the rest for post dancing ice cream topping. As it should be. Service was exceptionally friendly, wifi was a plenty, and the aforementioned fireplace anchored a sleek, modern design. It was my kind of place. Two FYIs - there are some outlets, but not many, and the menu on the website is a little out of date. They no longer are serving the house black bean burger. Good thing there was plenty else to love.

this is what i love in a bar/dive/dj joint!!!! i came here for the back2back monthly with s.f. wicked house legends , jeno & garth, and loved it! it's dark, dingy, small and full of happy drunks! the bartender was really cool and we weren't charged an arm & leg when we ordered chimay all night long!!!! i absolutely dig on the dungeon feel of the dance floor! they also allow ins & outs and the door folk aren't assholes either! i can't wait for the next back2back in november... see ya' there!!!! no rest for the wicked!!!! ***ursa major***

One of the things I love about San Francisco is that you can find a kitschy, fun, and, well, gay bar in just about every corner of town. Y'all know it's a gay bar, right?
