This place is a little gem! Located on the corner in the middle of nowhere, I felt like I was walking into a South Philly mafia restaurant. Not necessarily because of the dark lighting, but because of the booths reminiscent of 1989. Anyway, jabs at the interior design put aside, this place shines. The wait staff are ON POINT!!! Offer great recommendations, really really sweet, and attentive! We ordered up the croquettes as a starter, which are an explosion of goat cheese, pine nuts, and deliciousness. So much flavor is crammed in those little suckers! I think five came to the plate, so try to share nicely. :) I ended up ordering the Crispy Ravioli, my friend a pizza, and my boyfriend a Fettuccini Carbonara. I was terrified of the quail eggs at first, but when I tried the Carbonara, it was absolutely delicious. My crispy ravioli was pretty amazing too; it came covered in fresh broccoli, had a really nice balsamic sauce on it with some bite, and the pancetta? MMMmmmm....... What is really great about the food here is it is innovative and extremely professional. The chef Matt does a fantastic job. He came out and was talking to us for a bit after our meal, and not only is his food a cream dream, he is really sweet too. We asked for a recommendation on dessert and he make a small sampler platter for us which was awesome! The pineapple sorbet is fantastic! And the pricing here is so so good. A plate of high-end ingredients professionally prepared for $12? That doesn't happen, ESPECIALLY in San Francisco. The combination of great staff, good drinks, and excellent food will make this place a staple for us. Keep up the awesome work guys!

I had been to Ecco once for a couple glasses of wine and loved the atmosphere and the attentiveness of the staff and knew I had to come back for dinner. This past week I had that opportunity and it was nothing short of perfection! From the moment we walked in the door, we were met with courteous, knowledgeable and friendly staff. The wine menu is fabulous and I especially enjoy the Hall cabernet sauvignon. We ordered several of the taste & share and appetizer offerings. My favorite being the fried goat cheese, honey, and black pepper - makes my mouth water just thinking about it! The roasted mussels were excellent as well, especially if you appreciate garlic! For my entree, I ordered the penne candele with fennel sausage and broccoli raab. This dish was divine - the homemade pasta was soooo fresh. Everyone else in the group raved about their entrees as well. Ecco earns 5 stars from me - excellent wine, service, food, and atmosphere.
