I saw Greek Canadian comedian Angelo Tsarouchas here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The GLFs (Greek Lady Friends) and I got seated in the back since we were a little late but it didn't even seem like we were that far away since the Improv is pretty intimate. We actually were sitting next to all the opening acts. It's a 2 item minimum (which I'm not 100% certain they actually enforce) but we wanted to play nice so we each ordered a drink (glass of shiraz $6.50, bottle of corona $5.75) and some appetizers: chicken flautas, calamari and slice of cheesecake with strawberry sauce. The chicken flautas came with guacamole and sour cream and were actually really good and didn't seem to be entirely prefabricated and no overtly greasy. The calamari was undercooked and extremely rubbery. I think each us of wanted to spit the one bite we took out but didn't want to make a scene. I asked the waitress to replace it with the nachos which she enthusiastically did so. The nachos are made with that nacho cheese sauce you used to eat back in the 5th grade, lots of black beans, canned jalapenos, and a massive wallop of sour cream with fresh green onions on top. As trashy as it seems, the combination was quite delicious. The cheesecake was quite nice and light in texture. Most likely prefabricated, but I could be wrong. If you want to valet your ride it's $5, but I found street parking no problem. I'd go back again if I get on their freebie list and just get vino for the two item minimum.

The new Tongue and Groove is HORRIBLE!!! I use to go to the old one and had a great time. The new staff is by far the rudest I've ever witnessed in the bar business. I don't mind paying $10-$15 per drink as long as I get to drink it! The waitresses and bartenders WILL PICK UP YOUR FULL DRINK AND TOSS IT AS SOON AS YOU PUT IT DOWN! We complained all night about the bartenders throwing countless full drinks away. THIS PLACE WILL TREAT YOU POORLY FROM THE MINUTE YOU VALET YOUR CAR......STAY AWAY!

The lighted signs at Geno's are so gaudy I don't know if i should be ordering cheesesteak or be putting down bets on a craps game. They are very particular about how you order, as if what you get is that good. I agree though that the store is very clean. On to the food. They go a little light on the steak at Geno's. This means both in terms of overall mass as well as greasiness. The steak is used sparingly and it is dry and a bit tough to eat. Best to order with cheese whiz, since its really dry otherwise. My advice is to avoid this little corner of cheesesteak nation (Pat's across the street is barely any better). Jim's is a slight step up and Tony Luke's is a leap above. To note, Geno's teeters dangerously close to 1 star territory.
