I'm still mixed about my experience at the Green Door. We drove up to valet and instead of Valet coming to our door, some random male patrons opened the door and tried to act as valet. Instead of being flirty and cute it looked like they were trying to steal our car. Granted, I know that isn't the clubs fault, but i would've liked the Valet to come up to the car a lot quicker instead of us having to flag them down realizing the situation at hand. We didn't have to wait in line, because there wasn't one. We weren't there too early, around 11pm on a Friday night, but it seemed to pick up a lot later. Once inside, there is a outside patio area which would be amazing if it weren't for all the cigarettes. There is a bar there as well. Keep moving inside and there is a dance floor, some places for bottle service, and another bar at the back of the club. *Major plus - I never had to wait in line more than 5 minutes for a drink. I'm on the short side so this is a major perk for me, not having to fight for a drink. Bathrooms are a thumbs down, a major reason why they lost a star. There are only two stalls, and they're very small. Ladies - you need to take preemptive measures when it comes to using the bathrooms in that you might as well get in line when you even think you have to go to the bathroom. Also, minus a star for the DJ. He was pretty good, and would've been a lot better had he not been screaming "put your fucking hands in the air" every 5 minutes. If he had actually let a song play I would've enjoyed him a lot more. Side note, one of my girlfriends who was with me that night has gone back since and said that there was a different DJ (also a Friday night) and it made a huge difference. Hopefully I'll go back again to see if the DJ really makes the biggest difference.

3.5 stars.... I came here for dinner tonight with some friends.  It was their choice and I had known about where we were going to eat for several days, so I checked it out on rateclubs.  Honestly, I was not that comforted to see only 5 reviews, more or less of them not really describing the food.  There was a couple of dishes mentioned here and there. So, some may think it's not that hard to mess up Mexican food.  Well, then you haven't been to Acapulco or El Torito.  I KEED... I KEED.  They're actually not that bad.  I'd rather go to 'Pulco or The Torito ("El" is Spanish for "the", in case you gringos didn't know that) than say Baja Fresh.  Baja Fresh is a whorified version of Mesican food.  It got kidnapped by the dictator, Corporate America, and tortured and brainwashed into thinking it was putting out real Mexican food. But I've on a little bit of a tangent.  Where was I?  Monkeys?  no.... The place itself was pretty clean and well decorated.  The overall color scheme is pleasing to the eye as you bitchify your stomach with carbs, seasoned meat, and all the beans in the world.  "Hey kid, I'll sell you this bike for 50 bucks.  What?  All you got are these magic beans?  I'll take it *goes home* WTF?  These beans are mutated and are now eating my garden!!!" Where was I again?  Giraffes?  wait no.... They have an upstairs patio with a bar, a few tables, and a sound system set up for karaoke.  Karaoke at a Mesican restaurant?  That's like a high end steakhouse showing pictures of the food ( http://www.youtube.com...).  Just wait until like the 52 second mark. Well, we came here with the intention to partake in the karaoke.  We sat down and the server was.... she wasn't bitchy but she was super nice either.  Her service was at par I guess you can say.  But she did promptly take and bring us our beverage orders. I had taken some time to look at the menu on the website so I had it narrowed down to the carne en su jugo or the sopes.  Upon recommendation of my friend who has been here before, I got the sopes.  You get a choice of 2.  I asked if I could mix and match so I could try different meats and the server had no problem doing that.  I got one with carnitas and the other with asada.  My friend said not to get the chicken because it wasn't that good but I wasn't planning on getting chicken anyway. All of their entrees, specials, and plates come with beans and rice.  Our food came out and my sopes came topped with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cotija cheese, and sour cream.  The beans and rice were decent.  They didn't blow me out of the water but at least they didn't suck.  I've had watery beans and bland rice, which REALLY sucks. The asada wasn't bad.  It wasn't overcooked, was seasoned fairly well, but it didn't blow me way.  The carnitas however, tender yet not necessarily juicy, but very flavorful.  Made me wish I got both sopes with carnitas.  You live and you learn.  Just like if you were to get your ass stuck in a bear trap.  I wouldn't know what that feels like but it looks hilarious as hell. So yeah, the carnitas was by far the highlight of the dish. Overall we enjoyed the night, sung some songs in the company of some "Hispanic" brothers and sisters, and even one of my friends got serenaded by a guy because it was her birthday.... well, like 2-3 weeks ago, haha. Would I come back.  Eh, yeah sure.  Like I said, I actually was pleasantly surprised a little.

Okay, hmm...the only reason I can fathom that people give this place a low rating is because they didn't get in the club, or someone ruined their night.  But on a serious note, I love this place because the people at the door, the management, everyone seems to be very welcoming and nice to me.  They seem to all show love but maybe that's because I am respectful to them and show them my appreciation with a simple Thank You. For the vibe of the party, I guess it all depends on who the promoter is, and what night it is...because on certain nights the line will be down to the corner of the street, whereas other nights it might be a normal sized line.  Just get there at a decent time, or use your people skills and network and work your way in.  Either way, the drinks are decent, the music is great (fridays hip hop, saturday house music), and the people are usually pleasant to be around.  Fun place by far, especially for a place like SF.
