by Sean R. on 3.5 Stars Sound system, sound system, sound system! If you want to hear house music with clarity, volume, and drive, Cielo is the spot. A+ on the intimate setting, creating a unique DJ-crowd connection. The nights are varied -- Monday night Deep Space with Francois K is always a win, Thursday is the most B&T night, weekends the music selection is mostly on the deep side of house and generally excellent. Yeah, it's in Meatpacking, and it gets some of that crowd and attitude, but don't let that deter you. Yeah, it's a little expensive, and yeah, you get frisked hard going in, but it's worth it to at least once experience the log cabin that house built.
by sparky 6 on This is a korean bar. They have kareoke there. It is a fairly nice bar, empty most of the time. Basically if you are loaded and have plenty of money to burn this is the place for you. You will be able to buy the girls expansive "ladies drinks" and have coversations with them, some dancing and singing but thats all. At the end of the evening don't be surprised if your bill ends in the $800.00 range if not more. You can find other clubs where you can have more fun and spend about a third of what you would spend here.
by Cary Spino on Darn he beat me to it! Nevertheless, as the second witness to a rather horific experience I will reiterate what has already been reviewed before. While Eleven definitely has the look and feel of what would be a nice hot spot for WeHo foodies and drinkers alike, their food handling practices are definitely questionable! Granted, it was a one time occurrence, but in the world of fresh, healthy, and sanitary food prep procedures it only takes one time to ruin it for me. I'm sure kitchens aren't necessarily the best place for OCD clean freaks like me to dine in, I mean hello that's why we eat in the dining room right? But to witness a chef holding raw pieces of chicken breast (that looked frozen still by the way) in his bare hands while crossing a filthy alley to the back entrance of the restaurant presumably to the kitchen was quite honestly shocking! Perhaps there was a rush order of chicken breast. Perhaps they ran out of plastic cling or tupperware. Perhaps they wanted to expose their meat to the elements of the back alley for some added texture, taste, and who knows what else raw chicken handled by bare hands could be contaminated with. Perhaps "dirty chicken" is the new it-food and I'm just a foodie out of the loop. Whatever the case is, I'm sure I probably won't be trying this place. If you're not sold on the chicken story, then the stories of inconsistent pricing and over-hype might do it for you. If you do go, please review any chicken dish for the rest of us! While Eleven may boast a well-designed interior and the potential to making it the new East West which is really just another Abbey wannabe, with food handling procedures as hygenic as theirs it just doesn't add up. In the world of most clean food preparation with 1 being great and 10 being worst, Eleven definitely lives up to its name!
