by Adam Iskra on I first heard of this place from a movie called Piñero, I had to experience it. Friday night poetry slam! All the poets verses were thought provoking, and intelligent, some more than others. Beer & wine is all they serve.. get there early so that you can get a good seat and prepare to be blown away by some amazing poets. The host is a cute funny gal, the dj plays old school hip hop, 10 bucks a head, but worth it. I will definately come back here when i got back to NYC!

Thanks to rateclubs, even in my drunken stupor I knew better than to wait for the unisex bathroom on the main level and instead started meandering down the looong steps to the underground level, where there were ubiquitous bathroom stalls and plenty of counter space with girls lathering their MAC make up on. WINNER! Didn't have to elbow anyone so I could take care of my biznez. In all seriousness though, this club was beautiful (see pics). I fell in love with the cozy outdoor space when I first saw it in pictures, and again when I saw it in person. I wanted to get table service at the outdoor cabanas when we got there, but my friends wouldn't let me...saying I'd already had enough alky that night. Damnit!!! Nothing I would've enjoyed more than chillin at the cabana poolside with the great weather they were havin that night, and the fireplace cracklin' in the distance. *sigh* Maybe next time...

The music is ALWAYS the sh1t... and even when this place gets crackin, you never have to wait an unusually long time for a drink - even when only 1 of the bars is open. Even tho it's one of the city's more smaller spots, they always pull great (and famous) DJs. Really good drama-free crowd and spacious smoking area. That's key =P
