by Vannessa Kappeler on I like the bathroom (even if the stalls seem to resemble cryogenic pods from perhaps Barbarella or a Dr. Who movie) and the space is kinda cool and creepy at the same time. A little dark and catacomb-like. Was not impressed with the food (other than the beef dish my friend ordered which was off the chain and the only reason why I didn't rate this place with one star.) The beef on the Kobe beef sliders was good, but that damn bun absorbed all the moisture from my mouth and probably any surrounding mucus membranes. Jetison the top bun - going topless is good with those sliders. Service was pretty lackluster except for the bus dude (I think his name was Tomas). He should be a server since he gets it. He was attentive and even though I asked for ketchup about 3 times from the waitress, I asked him once and he brought it to me. I also had to remind her several times that she forgot my drink. If the place was slammed I would have been more compassionate, but it wasn't.

We chose the Chef's tasting menu which afforded 5 of us an amazing spread of sushi, dim sum, fresh fish and meats that more than satisfied the team. Add in a gigantic bottle of Sake and you've got all the makings for a great night. Yes the ambiance is a little 'Tokyo 1998' with plastic and rounded edges coming at you from every angle but it works. Favorite dishes include the Sea Bass, Calamari Salad and Crab Fried Rice.
