by Laura D. on My entire experience at Royale can be summarized as: ugh. The staff was kind and helpful, I will give the nightclub that. And the newly renovated Royale is very nice inside, large, spacious and large bar areas with loads of couches and seating around them. There is also a second floor where people can look on which I didn't go to, it seemed a little too far away from the stage. Everything else was such a let down. I was there for a concert and the crowd was the worst I've ever experienced. And I know people can get pushy and rowdy, but there is only so much beer that can be spilled on you before you start to get annoyed. And where was the security? At least 8 people hopped on stage during the show and security only pulled one out of the venue. The rest of the idiots kept jumping back on stage and it annoyed the performers. The sound was also a little off, it wasn't loud enough for the opening act. I've seen Sleigh Bells before and they weren't as good this time around due to the sound not being loud enough. I got to the show early and before the place was even full the bathrooms were disgusting. Not sure how a place neglects basic sanity like that, especially a venue that is so nice and new and clean everywhere else. NOT an ideal place for a concert, seems like it was built more for the clubbing scene. When given the option to see bands at other venues, I would rather go to them as Royale has provided one of the worst concert experiences I've ever had.
by Johnie Shinabarger on The staff was very friendly and incredibly polite. Beer prices were about average bar prices. The mixed drinks are pretty pricy. The DJ was interesting, but not really my thing. The problem was the bathrooms. Both bathrooms had the most over whelming smell of vomit. Even after the staff was in there cleaning it up, the smell was so unbearable. After talking with some people, they confirmed that this wasn't a new issue and it was always like that.
by Norbert Wager on My first experience with Jillian's was a glimpse of the ENORMOUS amalgam of tv screens over the bar - I saw it from the street and knew I had to check this spot out. The benefit to having SO many opportunities to show sporting events is that we East Coast transplants can request our games and everyone can have their fun - that is precisely what happened and we watch the Phils put a hurting on someone that evening while drinking some beers and awkwardly hovering over the first date in the booth below where we were sitting. We didn't try any of the food having just eaten, but the menu looked a little pricey (indeed, our beers weren't cheap) - but not out of place for the location.
