I feel like I'm wasting ink here but I honestly felt compelled to write this in case it stops someone from going. The staff is incredibly rude, incompetent, and LAME. At the door, they act like this is some super exclusive/ cool/ fashionable place, when in reality they are all trashy and depressing. They let people wait inline for half an hour until just minutes before last call in order to let in their similarly trashy and sad friends and appear "exclusive." Of course while waiting you can see they are all dressed in the most hideous and slutty outfits you can dream of, which they consider "upscale" since this place has a "dress code." When you do go in the music sucks, the drinks are weak, and you are confronted by the same bottom-of-the-pile crowd, with some of the sketchiest/ drunkest ones occasionally trying to rub themselves on you. Yuck*1,000,000. If you are one of those people who consider themselves "cool" by subjecting themselves to Harlot I feel extremely sorry for you and will pray for your salvation :)

A cute little venue in the Castro that starts your evening with lush stairs leading downwards that are hard on the knees. I had the chance to check out a great artist who has hit some popularity, and I was glad to see that the venue was very intimate. It's nice and plush inside, with tables you can sit at near the stage along with some good floor space if you're one of those people who like to inch closer, or stay in the back and dance like you're at Woodstock. You can also sit at the bar and get a pretty good view if there's no one standing in front of you. A plus to Cafe Du Nord is that they serve food, so you can grab a bite to eat here if you are in a rush and can't get to dinner before hand. Their menu is far from extensive, but there are some good choices for everyone. The only thing I wasn't happy about is that they don't have ranch dressing. Apparently the chef makes it sometimes, and we asked for a side and it was so watery that it wouldn't cling onto anything. Dissapointing was the ranch, but not the venue, and definitely not the show.

I've never been here other than on a Thursday night for '1984' their 80s dance night which is usually mobbed with college girls and well that's a good thing for me. Anyway they've got two rooms with different types of 80s music for you, it's $6 to get in after 10pm free before that.
