Well, it only took us two years to get to Ecco. The verdict: I really liked it, but Nova was more ambivalent. A bummer for a "date night" kind of thing. Anyway, everything people say about the building and the vibe is spot on. The bar has a private club feel and I found the dining room to be a little sexy after dark. There were actually several things on the menu that looked good to me. One of those was the fried goat cheese balls, which we started with. The Sourwood honey (I'm guessing) was a nice counterpoint to the tang of the gooey cheese. And the bits of black pepper were a nice touch. Entree-wise, Nova went with the chile-braised pork and tagliatelle while I chose one of the flatbread-like pizzas. Her pork had the right amount of spice and was deliciously tender. But I think Nova's problem was that she thought it was pasta with pork dish, not the other way around (it really was a mountain of pork). My flatbread/pizza thing was quite good. The crisp, cracker-like crust was coated with a wonderfully mild sauce, fresh mozzarella, some grana padano and a healthy heaping of capicola. The only disappointment of the evening was the dessert menu. I can usually find something to love on any dessert menu, but none of the options really sang to me. Still, the rest of the meal made up for it -- though there was a bit of an off-putting smell when we were there. That said, Ecco gets a deserving four stars from me and probably a take-it-or-leave-it three stars from Nova.

This club is worth checking out. I would recommend getting a table, it's much better having your own space, and being served by others =). This club is beautiful, love the decor. Very hot.

Cute bar in the Castro area. Finally a new place that has some style and is swanky. Castro needs a face lift honey, it's a new decade and this bar/club delivers. Great set up with a balcony type VIP area with bottle service on the weekends. They have platforms for Go-Go's and a swinging apparatus, as well as a cage in the middle of the bar. They have a screen for videos and visuals on one side of the bar area. They have coat check and unisex bathrooms in a beautiful wash area. It's set up really nice but when I was there the music they were playing was "interesting." I heard Katy Perry's Hot & Cold then I heard some down tempo lounge music. They need to pay attention to the complete atmosphere they are trying to create even if there's no DJ spinning at that moment. The best thing they do have though is the...smoking area with seating. Yay... The only thing negative is the place is just too damn small. I think capacity is two hundred something. Not alot! For some variety, step out of SF and into WeHo without the plane ticket or mileage on your car.
