Everyone on the staff from the hostess to the bar to the waitstaff to the foodrunners was extremely professional, friendly and helpful. It was a level above what you'd hope for, especially during restaurant week when so many customers are probably being a pain in the ass. All food was excellent. Very fresh, well presented. The salad sampler was the highlight for us...highly reccomend it! We will definitely return!
by Chris P. on The vibe is a bit SF trying to be LA, even though the NY Times unbelievably wrote an article(!!) about Vessel being a slice of Manhattan in Union Square/SF. Maybe they meant the bottle service pushing and pricier cocktails, but otherwise, not so much. You walk in and there is a poseur-ish feel, like the W hotel bars. It's not necessarily a bad thing, it is what it is. I didn't realize it was a techie elite hangout a la Slide either until the NYT review. Personally I couldn't tell, from the few times I've been there. One time there were tons of young Asian women and people dancing on the tables. Another night it was an edgier hip hop funk crowd with a live band. Actually I like the space -- it's a nice big open square space with a good amount of lounge seating. Other pros: coat check, no cover.
