I sort of loved the Buddha. I mean, I was a little disappointed that you're not allowed to sit in his lap and/or rub his belly, but I guess that's just mid-town for you. Anyway, Tao is definitely fun, swanky, etc. The food is quite good (notice I didn't say delicious...and for $26 salmon, I think it should be delicious), but my chief complaint is that the clientele is mostly comprised of douchebags. Standing at the bar, this guy was sitting in one of the low love seats next to me and had his legs crossed. His top leg was jutting out into the aisle, thus jabbing me approximately every 32 seconds. And, of course, he never once apologized. Later, I had to ask the guy at the table beside us to move his chair half the distance to his table (so about 1.5 feet) so I could get out. Aside from rampant douchebaggery, however, Tao is a good choice for a little swank and a lot of Buddha.

It amazes me how much people know, and how much people "think they know". First of all about what it means to truly be a socialite, and secondly, to know that a drag show is just that, lip syncing. So, Harry Denton, what a doll, couldn't hurt a living thing (that's where him and I differ the most), but truly, truly the most charming and hospitable host. Here is a little food for thought for those who can't appreciate the 1930's posh elegance of the lounge. If every club, bar, and lounge in the city looked the same, life would be boring!!! And 2, when you have your own lounge, you can decorate it the way you want, and see if someone doesn't like your taste. On to the food. If you have ever eaten at one of those brunches done by the corporate hotels, you know which ones they are, you spent the night at one on your senior ball. You would know that the brunch menu isnt that much more decadent than going to Denny's. The brunch at Harry's is varied and cooked very well, however its really hard to appreciate it when you arrive late (second act of the show) and wait until your 5th mimosa to enjoy it. The queens. I have seen a lot of drag shows in my time, and it is true, there aren't many good ones left. Come to think of it, there aren't many of the great drag queens left, bless their souls. But if I were to suggest, which I am, a show where you get a great blend of drag talent, old & new, elegant & sassy alike, then this is the show for you. You can bring your boss and his wife here, you can bring your folks here (explain to dad first), or just come with your friends and enjoy a great breakfast and some cocktails on Sunday morning, like a true socialite does. The last show I attended was with my best friend, well bf at the time, and his sister visiting from Florida. I believe it was the normal cast including Cassandra and a queen I have never seen before but loved her performance of "Here Comes the Rain Again" by the Eurythmics. And the Lucile Ball Veggie Vitamin performance by Holotta Tymes was incredible, makes me tinkly myself just a little every time. But if you havent seen her work, her wicked wicked way, Lady Tia. Just when I thought I had heard enough of Jennifer Hudson and "How much I am going to Love her", Lady Tia done turned her out one more time in a vocally and physically perfect sync of the song. Had chills, no doubt, I had chills. Our guest videotaped the entire performance and still calls us from Florida to tell us she showed it to someone else who is visiting SF in the near future. So from a real socialite, Thank You Harry, and Thank You Ladies!
