Great drinks, and drink specials around happy hour. Anthony is great, and the rest of the staff is very friendly. I like the decor, and the back room is great for parties. The pizzas are great and the pasta specials and salads are very good. I wish they had some of their Lunch menu items on their dinner menu, as I am never able to make it to their Lunches due to work out of the area. I also wish they had a brunch on Sunday. Overall a nice place with an attentive staff.

I'd been to POD before for a private event, but on Tuesday we went for a friend's birthday. Our party was lucky enough to get a POD (and trust me, I couldn't stop changing the color inside). The first surprise we got was when we brought in a cake and were informed there was a $4 per person plating fee. No big deal, as they just want you to use their in-house baker. I had reviewed the menu prior and pretty much knew what I wanted, and my mouth was practically watering for the edamame. My boyfriend mocks me whenever I mention edamame and pad thai (I tried cooking it for him once and failed miserably), so imagine my surprise when he tried both off my plate and loved them. Because the dishes are family style, we shared all our stuff among the table. I had my edamame, of course, along with pork dumplings and calamari salad. For my entree, I enjoyed some shrimp pad thai, which wasn't as spicy as I was hoping. It was tasty though, and very filling. I coudn't even finish and had the rest of it for lunch the next day. As far as that $4 plating fee, I'd say it was worth it. They cut and served the cake for us, on cute little plates with a scoop of spiced ice cream. That's definitely worth the $4! POD is a nice restaurant, nice atmosphere, and a definite bonus if you get to sit in the POD (although do not try the red light, your entire POD turns a near-seizure-inducing hot pink color!)

Martuni's looks like the kind of bar the all the characters from that show Three's Company would have gone to...if you dressed them in fishnets and feather boas and gathered them around a piano in the haze of neon lights and cigarette smoke. And you know what? I think that's stellar. Those people were living the wild & crazy 70's bachelor(ette) life, foolin' the Ropers and hanging out with Jack's skeezy friend, (who despite his giggity-giggity nature, really had a good caring heart deep down). Since Martuni's was one of the last spots on our long night of debauchery, things seem a bit dream-like. But, I know there was a round of drinks and it was relatively cheap. I know the bartender was rude in demanding payment. I remember the bar being back-paneled with mirrors and there was plenty of space to sit. I did not know, however, that the place's vibe was emanating from a contingency of drag queens and trannies! How did I miss this? Martuni's is what happens when you mix San Francisco with Miami and drop it back in time to 1976. Partyyyyyyy.
