I finally hit up Opera last night for the first time in a year and a half, and I had an amazing time. By far, this is my favorite place to go to dance in Atlanta. The venue's great, music's always good, and the crowd's diverse and fun. There are 5 main areas: the outside patio, the central room, the big side room in the back past the bathrooms, the room downstairs, and the upstairs VIP area. I always come during the regular nights so they play a lot of hip hop, r&b, rap, etc, but they do have salsa and techno events as well. The people are super chill. For the girls, you don't really have to worry about random people grabbing you and most guys respond to a firm NO. The bathroom facilities are adequate, and the bartenders alright. The drinks are a bit expensive (5-6 for beers and water, 8 and up for anything with liquor in it, 16 for a double vodka with redbull!) so plan accordingly before getting here. Cover's 20 dollars, but free on the guestlist before 11:30. If you get on the guestlist, make sure to get there early, because the line moves sloow and it gets pretty long. Interestingly enough, the line moves much faster after 11:30. For guys, don't breach any of their clothing rules, you will have to pay 20 if you're wearing white sneakers. They have bottle service for 250, which lets you cut the line, get a table, and a bottle of vodka. Afterwards, they sell food outside for hungry party people. I'm definitely coming back soon. I've been coming since 2007, and by far and large, this is the club my friends and I always compare other clubs to because honestly, we have never had a bad time at Opera. So check it out and see for yourself.

The beer is expensive, but the location can't be beat. Located on the Hudson River, this boat-turned-restaurant has a lot of great food and is great for groups. I wouldn't call it an everyday kind of restaurant, but when you're in the area, hop on by and see what the buzz is all about. FOOD/DRINK: The food is definitely the positive here, with drinks expensive and watered down. Bring your own beer (Corona, remember) and "pretend" you ordered it downstairs. SERVICE: Decent. It's a bige boat, and there are a lot of people to serve, but they keep it moving. All in all, a fun "destination dining" experience. Go with a group, get liquored up, then go to Chelsea Piers for bowling.

I don't know how people can trash Oslo so much, at least for the food. I've never had bad sushi or Asian food here. It's an absolute TREAT to be able to sit outside on the patio along Woodward Avenue and maul a plate of veggie rolls. I haven't been to the club downstairs (not my thing), but I think Oslo has very decent sushi. It's not Noble Fish good, but I've had waaaaaaaaaaaaay worse. The atmosphere is nice inside, and it makes for a lovely place to take your special someone.
