Checked it out on opening week. The different thing about this club was the personal bar that each table gets on the side. You can make your own drinks or a cocktail waitress will keep em coming for you. Same as each club - strict door, mostly pretty well-dressed girls, tons of douchebags in blazers, top 40 music, etc. etc. I can't be too enthused about this club or any club for that matter. Once you've been to one, you've been to them all. They follow the same formula. Past this phase already....

The first time I went here was on a holiday. The lines ran for miles. Families ran amuck with their 3+ children throwing temper tantrums. Two words: breeder central. Now, I love kids. But seeing family after family made me a bit nauseous, the same way a shit ton of desperate singles at a sleazy club makes me feel gross. It's just too much. Thank God for the California Academy of Sciences Nightlife. Not for the overpriced alcohol and food. Or the people dressed up like they're clubbing (okay, that was a bit entertaining.) I was stoked to enjoy the museum in peace without the crowds. I actually got into the planetarium this time around which was out of this world!!!! Sorry, I had to say it. A great place to take a first date or pick up one. P.S. Minus one star for the $8 beers. Bringing my own stash next time.

Coming from Los Angeles, I wasn't sure what to expect from the Miami clubbing scene and night life. SET was the first club I went to on Saturday night and I was welcomed by very friendly door men... Oddly enough, they were telling this girl that she wouldn't be allowed into the club, and at the same time, he let us right in the rope without a problem. After I dropped my promoter friend's name, we were escorted in without having to pay cover. Walking into SET, I was blown away by the decor. It was beautiful inside and was washed in blue and red lights. Right down the middle were a bunch of tables and couches. At the far back was a bar with these two clear elevators on either side, which is where I'm assuming the go go dancers would have been. Music on the main floor was generally house, 80's rock, and reggaeton. Upstairs was the hip-hop room which I absolutely loved. The wallpaper and ceiling were covered in these cool designs and leopard/zebra print couches and chairs. The music was awesome and they also had the respective music video playing on two flat screens at the right side of the room. SET has really nice restrooms, each stall had its own sink as well! That was exciting to me, as they never have any stalls like that in LA. The drinks were pretty strong, but were also on the pricier side. In addition, a 17% gratuity is tacked onto your bill, and you are asked if you'd like to add anymore! Oh, and there's $40 minimum for credit cards.
