Here on a Friday for a post-season kickball party.  Ok DJ. Not good enough to get the whole crowd jazzed to dance or amp up the party vibe in the bar.  Drinks were decent. They gave us some lame "specials" for bringing in 40+ people. One free drink and then you can have the normal Friday specials like everyone else. Woo. Neat. For 100$  of food money we got fries and bbq wings from 8-11.  It was enough to make my night out decent, but I'm not itching to come back and praise them with my business.

Thursdays, that's whats up. cat club was the first club i attended when i FIRST moved to the bay area, 3 years ago. since then i go back regularly (not so much recently, damn early work hours and responsibilities, ugh). drinks are decently prices, staff seems to be on top of it (thumbs up to the door guy, very chill). $6 cover is doable. the people are awesome, not douchy. every ones just there to dance and drink. you don't see the 40 year old creeper in the corner or the homies putting their mack down every 15 seconds. I befriended Jeff the bartender years ago, don't know where he went but i sure as hell miss him. great dude. randy is there now and hes super cool too (even though he thinks i wear eyeliner and i don't, JEALOUS haha) they also have 3$ PBR cans which is cool. my only complaint is its cash only, which is inconvenient bc drunk Ryan + ATM is madness.

Having been a fan of Twilo and friends, it's been a while since I've "gone clubbing".  But I decided to try out this new venue, marketed as the environmentally friendly joint. You enter at the upper level, the bar's to the left with tables and couches all around, but the fact that there was no dance floor per se caught me off guard.  It's a pretty tiny space for a dance club.  Arrived around midnight to avoid lines; got in easy enough, but I was on a guest list.  Other groups were coerced into getting bottle service. Lower level is even smaller than the upper level.  Bathrooms are also downstairs.  Speaking of which, there are 2 staircases for transit. The crowd was heavily tilted to the female side earlier in the night, but it evened out later.  Beautiful people outnumbered the no-so-beautiful crowd 2-to-1, but everyone seemed like they were trying so hard to see and be seen. Music was mediocre at best.  Top 40s and euro-pop-trance-techno fare, like candy.  Mixing was mostly rudimentary, lacking sophistication and technique. Drinks, although I only had a couple of vodka shots, were terribly weak and not-cost-effective at $14 per pop. Overall, I left unsated and lukewarm.  I definitely had more fun at other venues.  This place seemed to lack depth, placing emphasis on decor and bottle service instead of music and dance.
