by Zane Cogliano on Once Loyal, now DISGUSTED Very inconsistent. I want to like this restaurant. The host is gushing. A few of the waiters are a joy (Chris). The decor is polished and slick. But the food and the service is VERY spotty. I have had 4 star dinners here and I have had 1 star dinners. The last time I ate there was a 1 star occasion and these seem to be the standard for now. Everything was off that night. The bartender did not know how to make a Negroni (didn't even bother to look it up). The Martini olives tasted rancid. The food was not even worth mentioning. Wine was oxidized. Our waiter knew nothing about the wine. "GSM" he said, "Oh sure the time zone..." There are so many times I just wanted to walk out. I was hosting company and friends. I was embarrassed for the restaurant at first and then just downright angry that everything was off. I have eaten at this restaurant many times, and now I am not sure that I will ever return, unless I hear from other rateclubsers and reviewers that they have improved. Good luck One, I'm rooting for you!
by Nigel Nishimoto on Harlot is the worst club in SF. The bouncers wouldn't let my friend and I in because we were male. Later my friend on guest list couldn't get us in because you can't have male +1's. Finally got in on guestlist for another friend's table service. Still however the sincere lack of respect made it so unpleasant. I will never go back again. Harlot, if you want people to spend their money show people a little more respect! Total waste of time. Next time start a club in LA of you want to act elitist. Also to add. I know that there have been allegations of discrimination at this club. Just to add to the list. My friend and I were, respectively, African and Asian American. I feel that any club that discriminates, whether based on gender (male) or based on race, should not be frequented. While I am unaware of Harlot's internal policies, I have to say that tonight, an African American man and an Asian man were turned away multiple times by very rude bouncers.
by Tom A. on There was a wait for a table inside (107 degrees outside!) so we found 2 seats at the bar. This place has an "LA vibe" with the music, long drapey curtains, low lighting and candles. I am an IPA fan so I had a flight of IPA's which were all excellent. My wife chose a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc to go with the excellent homeade gaspaccio that had sprinkles of goat cheese on top and fresh avocado diced in, perfect for a hot day. I had the Delux burger which was cooked perfectly and paired that with another beer sample this time the favorite was the "Coconut Joe" from Papago Brewing company. My wife had a turkey burger on a whole wheat bun and paired that with "The Big Red" from Australia. The staff was very helpful, allowing us to sample the beer and wine before committing to a whole glass. Amanada helped my wife select lower calorie options as she is trying to cut back on calories but still enjoy eating out. We recommend ordering the 1/2 order of mixed french fries which was still a very large portion. The shopping cart of fries the the people next to us had was huge! Be aware of ordering the chocolate lava cake as it is huge and for at least 4 people with 3 large ice cream balls (vanilla, chocolate and strawberry) with lava cake, a serving vessel of hot fudge to pour on top and at least 2 whole bananas! Kimberly (the other bar tender) helped us pack some up to go.
