the venue is nice, but i had such a lousy customer service experience. i got double-charged on my credit card: one correct charge for my drinks, and one second charge, in a different amount, for somebody else's stuff. i don't know, but am assuming the waiter by mistake charged someone else at my table -- i was on my own and sitting with others i didn't know -- onto my card. i called twice to try and fix it. the first time i called robert answered, declared my situation "weird", was very curt, said he'd have somebody call me back shortly, and hung up on me. needless to say, no one called me back,. i tried again sat afternoon, two days later, got the same man, who was rude and impatient, and said he would leave my number for the same gal he had said would call me thursday. so, be careful to double check your bill before and after you go, and don't expect hte normal good customer service that you would otherwise expect from a hotel/club at this price point.

Sunday night at Martuni's was one of those magical accidental extended moments of bliss that make life worth living. We were visiting SF from Seattle for a set of performances and Folsom and wanted to have one last night out in the bay. Friends sold us on Martuni's as a "Lesbian Piano Bar," which it is not, but it was the single friendliest most lovely little bar I have ever walked into. We happened to be there for Katie's birthday-she took a break from playing piano to eat cupcakes with the entire bar and staff. Brett served us like a pro and adopted us immediately into the family. Regulars bought us drinks. And though I switched to water after my first cocktail, I was pleasantly smashed for the whole night. They don't pour that heavy where we come from! Thanks Brett, thanks Katie, thanks Martuni's, we'll be back again soon, and we LOOOOOOOOVE you!

Got the Vito. Very tasty (especially the bread) and substantial (if not as hearty as a Sharp Italian from Primo). Stupid fast delivery (not more than 10 minutes from the time I called). $5.50 before tip. Open 'til 7:00 pm (Primo closes at 3:00). I'll be ordering again, indubitably.
