by Normand Moilien on well, where do i begin made reservations the same day, got there at 8pm. this was my 2nd time, wanted to take my husband and friends, since my 1st experience on the friday gorls night out was much better. it looked a bit empty for saturday night. we got seated outside, had our drinks by the fire pit. the drinks were just ok and overpriced. we order few appetizers and main courses each. the waitress, danielle, was very friendly and accomodating. we had two 10oz filet mignons (over $43 each), lobster risotto, and salmon filet with french fries to share. ordered another round of drinks for 4, and at 10pm, we have noticed that the crowd started to fill in the patio and the lounge itself. at around 10:15, we were asked several times to pay our bill, and that's when we got a bit upset. besides that the bill was over $500 for four with 15% tip already included, and hints to pay and move, we saw a so called "venue fee" of $35. we asked the waitress, and she sent the manager to speak to us. first off, he told us that in order for us to sit at the table we need to get a bottle service of $500, not to mention that we already spent $500. secondly, he mentioned that fee should have been mentioned when we made reservations, and that the fee was customary, since the restaurant and hotel are not related entities and they get charged fees by the hotel. therefore, "we pass the savings to the customers", his exact words. i could not stop laughing. what a rip off? after a little conversation with manager, he let us stay at our table, until someone gets the "bottle service" and we would have to move. sure enough, nobody bothered us again. around 12:30am we decided to leave anyways. so...guess what, this is my last time coming to this establishment. since there are still so many wonderful places to eat and have fun, why would i waste my cash there. food was nothing to write home about, just your average dishes that you can get so much better and cheaper else where in the city (i think few months back, i paid less at "mastro's" in thousand oaks, which i consider one of the best and actually had leftovers for lunch.) i am not big on club scene, but it looked like people were having a good time, nice up to date music.
by Katherine W. on This place was pretty good. I had a pitcher of beer (Checker Cab Blonde Ale) that was $22 and tasty and we managed to get a table on the side of the bar that's towards the stage. It wasn't very crowded, probably because it was supposed to rain, but there were a bunch of people in that part of the bar and we were also able to hear the music pretty well. The range of people there was really wide and I was definitely overdressed, but that's ok. The music being played is a little bit like the stuff they had at parties at my high school and I saw a lot of loafers and godawful plaid shorts. About thirty minutes before closing time (which was at one), it started pouring off and on. We got some trash bags from the staff and made some super attractive ponchos to wear out. It ended up being fun, but between closing time and the rain that place cleaned out in about 30 seconds.
by Aubrey Dampier on Oh, Nick... I can not deny that your food is delicious. Your Nick's way tacos, of all meat options, are some of the better things to ever visit my mouthhole. Your salsas are grade A, and your food is good enough to make it worth standing in the usual line that forms outside. That being said, your prices are criminal, and your staff is rude and unhelpful. Without fail, they throw our entire order in a bag after I request it be separated. Nick, there are these people called vegetarians who don't appreciate their food soaked in meat juice. There are also people who don't eat pork and would rather not have the juice from your (delicious) carnitas on their hands. Without exaggeration, I request the separation of our order every time I call, and it hasn't happened once. This is not just bad service, it's offensive. Almost as offensive as the cost of your food. Nick, I love the tacos, but please stop smoking crack. It's affecting your business.
