by Jordan L. on The Latest Dish is easy to pass by...it's on a mostly tattoo and piercing block off of South Street, and there's no huge sign or lights to let you know it's there. I like this about the Latest Dish. It's so unassuming that when you eat the food, you're really blown away! Between my boyfriend and I we've sampled a bunch of their offerings. The daily empanada is a sure bet, as is the chicken sandwich. Also wonderful are the organic chicken and the tuna. The drink list has some excellent creative cocktails, along with a substantial beer list and respectable wine offering. This is a great neighborhood spot that serves quality food, unlike some of the other places on South Street. A great place to go with a couple friends, or a casual meal on a weeknight.
by Sanford Stromer on I have been to compound twice. Both times, I felt as if I were in ChinaTown. I know that everyone thinks this is "The Spot" to go and it is a really nice venue but there is not really a mixed crowd. As for the set up for the venue, it is wonderful, Very Modern and the Sound System is one of the best I've seen. The lights is really nice, but if you are into the flashing and strobe light, this is not your place. It is a very well-lighted Club. the outside and I'm guessing entrance is really nice with side walks and rock formations. Really cool water area. The Venue is a nice place, I won't knock it. As for the people who go there. It's just not my scene. I like mixed crowds and I didn't experience that at all. I also have noticed they will advertise that someone is going to be there, someone famous of course. Do you ever see them there? no... As usual. But I don't really go for that anyway. The drinks are expensive and they are not strong. But, If you really want to try it out. Then I'd say go for it, At least you'll have good lighting for pictures and a cool scene to show off to friends.
