by J. D. on A wise man who was also one of my instructors at culinary school said that you can usually judge the quality of a restaurant by the the soup they prepare. If following that logic, Rain certainly sets the bar high. We enjoyed a terrific version of chicken coconut soup. I'm often weary of Thai restaurants that also serve sushi, but in this case a great deal of care is placed in the presentation and preparation of the Thai food that I will forgive them for dabbling in another ethnic cuisine. The depth of flavor in the curries is extraordinary. We sampled the green, masaman, and panang. All had distinct flavor and aroma. The meats were tender. Everything seemed very fresh. The cabbage for the larb was chilled and crisp. Even the garnishes were impeccably cared for and presented. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Perhaps its random location next to a gay bar and a Publix takes away from the spotlight of this restaurant, but I will definitely be back to this gem in the neighborhood.
by Allan Carpio on The only reason we came here was being Big Wang's was too crowded. I did like that no one was really here and we were able to get our own big booth without having to wait. I like that they have darts, a ping pong table and board games to keep you and your friends busy. I like that it's pretty big and spacious and good for a big party. I also like that they have a number of big screen TVs all around. I don't like that one TV is not in HD so it's 4 seconds ahead of all the other TVs and based on the people's reactions watchiing the TV, we already know what's going to happen. I didn't like the food at all. Burgers were dry, the alfredo sauce was watered down. They only have 3 beers on tap!! That's it. They only have one server and although they weren't super busy it was tough trying to get his attention when we needed stuff. My overall impression of this place was kinda ehhh but I know I would come back because I know it won't be crowded.
