by Patrica Mirzadeh on I likes my restaurants hows I likes my men; dark, sleek, attentive yet a little moody round the edges. Therefore OMK would be my perfect man! I went last night for dinner and had a wonderful dinning experience. We had an 8:30 reservation on a Friday night. We got there around 8 and said we'd just have drinks at the bar till our time. Even though the place seemed packed they were actually ready to seat us at 8 but told us to let them know when we were ready to be seated. The bar was at the far left corner of the restaurant so you had to pass the open kitchen (which i love in restaurants) to get to it. The chefs were hard at work and the smells coming from the kitchen made me hungry. Now they loose a star for not being able to make a Mai Thai (when the bar tender said he could) and also for making us have to remind them 3 times that we were ready to be seated. They would have lost a star each time for this, but our server was so fabulous it bumped them back up. Our server (Nathaniel) even knew how my other half liked his whiskey (short glass, ice, splash of coke, no garnishment) without us telling him (I'm assuming he checked with the bar tender) Nathaniel told me that the ribs I wanted for my entree were filling enough that I didn't need to bother with a stater. How refreshing to see he wasn't just chasing a larger tip but actually thought about the diner. My hubby grudgingly shared his calamari starter (yum! yum!). My ribs and fries were great. I think the ribs are their Friday night special and I WILL be back for them. Hubby wasn't so enamored with his pork shank (needed more seasoning) so he ate most of my spicy fries and some ribs. We had asked to take dessert back at the bar b'cos the noise from the 10 strong party of valley-esq college girls was starting to make our ears bleed. Again Nathaniel was great and set us up quickly at the bar and we rounded the evening off sharing a lovely apple tart.
by Charisse Kowalsky on This rating is strictly based on Jillian's being a sports bar. Their three giant tiled projection screens and well-placed bar seating make for a great sports-viewing experience, especially when you want to keep track of multiple games at once. We really liked the teriyaki wings (we kept to the teriyaki glaze sauce because the wasabi sauce on the side wasn't that good) and the server was attentive about refilling our [soda] drinks. Can't complain about that experience. Looking forward to trying out Salsa Fridays here - the dance floor with huge mirrored wall looks promising.
