This is an amazing hotel in terms of it's aesthetic and considering the price and location I would certainly give it another chance but a few things made our stay less than great. On the first night there was a skateboarders convention or awards night or some such nonsense which attracted the sort of people who like skateboarding which led to people falling in the pool, yelling and screaming, sexual harassment for my girlfriend and no sleep until 2.30am. Not offered any compensation past an apology (actually, not sure we even got that) from the fun and friendly (not sarcastic) staff. Other nights were relatively quiet. The room is very nice. King size bed, no cheesy corporate crap about our staying there being 'very important' to them or how they're saving the planet one something at a time. Believe me, these are BIG pluses. Breakfast was 'continental', whatever that means! Bagels, cream cheese, pastries and coffee. Very tasty. The pool was warm and inviting and we were the only ones to use it. The bar and restaurant seem to be permanently closed. The area is excellent. Cheap food, exciting people being crazed and vomiting out of parked cars. Again, not sarcastic. I enjoy the grit more than a Holiday Inn every time. I will post pics of the place once processed. Proposed to my girlfriend during this trip and for that reason the Phoenix will always be special. I guess that's it. Yes, I'd come back but yes, I wish they would keep the morons out! Oh, the wifi was incredibly slow and patchy. And it's good if you like the smell of marijuana.

We got hooked up with a promoter at this place that helped us get in without any problems. At 12, it was fairly dead then got beyond crowded within a matter of 10 minutes. The crowd is generally on the older side and many seem to come from another event or work. There are a few models that hang around here as well. Not to generalize, but this place is full of pretentious, over-protective women. All the women I tried to be friendly with gave me the "what are you doing here?" look. They were pushing and shoving in other parts of the club. All I did was stand there. Guess women at this place aren't that friendly. The men, on the other hand, are. Music sucked in the beginning but got better towards the end of the night. If you're looking to dance, this is NOT the place to come. People are rubbing up against you all night long. Drinks are about $20. That's way too pricey for one drink. Is this normal? Otherwise, I had a fairly good time. You can dance on the couch and tables and no one will tell you to come down.
