by Inell Amonette on I'm giving this place two stars because it had decent music last night if you like house, which I do. and the lady bartender was a good woman. the drinks are a tad expensive - $9 for a smallish mixed drink, $13 for a small long island iced tea. i'm not sure how they're in the $$ category, what, are they supposed to charge $20 for a small L.I. iced tea? Although I'm sure there are places in manhattan that do. I don't really go out in manhattan that much so whatever, call me a hillbilly from brooklyn but the sheer amount of money that they were trying to squeeze out of me was annoying. $3 coat check, a cover at the door, and a con artist manning the bathroom. You enter the womens bathroom and its like ooh! a delightful spread of candy and cigarettes! what a lovely surprise. I look to the attendant - can I have a cigarette? sure! so I'm shuffled off to the stall on the end to furtively have a smoke and halfway through she tells me its $2. also tried to get my friend to give her $2 for a piece of gum. omg maybe I'm naive but fuck this manhattan shit, conning people into giving you $2 for a nicotine fix is not a real job, and I'm unemployed and know that jobs are hard to find. the dance floor is full of somewhat slimy dudes with bad moves, but maybe I was just there on a bad night. anyway.... I've given this place a pretty bad review, but it wasn't terrible. the music was pretty good, I really liked the decor and um... the lady bartender. yeah.
by Carine O. on I went to Luckie Food Lounge twice so far - I like it. First time was for lunch. Service was not great, but they just opened - guess it's one of those things that always happens with new places. They have to get their act together a little, that's all. I liked the food, decor - check out the bathrooms!! (I haven't said that out loud in a restaurant since I was 5) I went back for (early) dinner, and would definitely go back again. It's one of those places where you can go with a group of friends and have drinks all night, or go on your own and hang at the bar, or just have nice dinner for 2... whatever you're in the mood for.
by Basilia Cirigliano on Dammit! Marina beat me to the rateclub.... :-) I just walked in to Icon....they splattered the whole street with flyers - so kinda hard to miss their new status.... The place looks really cool. I went to Luna several times when it first opened....but Icon did a much better job.... Did not stay for drinks or dancing....but hopefully, they play good HOUSE/DANCE music and perform crowd control....Luna was horrible at that and started playing Hip Hop...next you know there was gun shots - twice! I live right next door dammit! Keep it down! :-P
