Been here a couple of times and I love the sound system...it just resonates and is loud in the main room. The lighting system is good as well, doesn't beat Tigerheat's big screens but it is still very nice. I wish the lightshows were as good as Florentine Gardens when it was still the Heist but eh maybe this event didn't call for it. They were doing a random fashion show which I didn't get though I must say I did like this one dudes show and might get a pair...maybe. They had a little catwalk and a big stage. The music choice was EDM infused pop, basically top 40 house and dance anthems, which is alright by me, though they replayed songs in different ways. I heard that We no speak americano song in many incarnations, which is no problem for me cuz I love that jam. The drinks were pricey and 6 bux for coat check... No sir. It also opened late, 10:30pm? I like clubs that open at 9pm, hell if they had one that opened at 8pm I'd go. It's the raver in me...when I wanna dance I wanna dance baby. Still I'm one of those random guys who can dance 9 hours and feel cool to do something else. The bouncers were respectful but we had a name of a promoter for our party so maybe that's why, I did get the patdown but I'm used to that at raves and clubs nowadays. Still I wear skinny jeans and fitted shirts, so I don't know what weapon I could hide in that.... except for...ya know. Alright so it was free for the girls and 10 bucks for the guys which is expected, for once though I'd love to get in for free... Sadly I don't look good in heels and a dress so that's out. So we get in and again the bartender was really sweet and nice, which is a plus for us and a good tip for her, and likewise she made my jack and coke, very jacky less cokey which I appreciate and the ADIOs after was spot on. Stayed in the main room, the other rooms weren't really open or were reserved for the people doing the fashion show. The crowd was mixed, we got some older couples, some young scenesters, hipsters, raver type kids, and just really mixed. I'm all for that, I hate going to a bar or club and seeing carbon copy after carbon copy, I know some people are all for that so yeah this place tends to be a mixed bag. I did see some overly enthusiastic guys alone who dance crazy and were "Creeping"...It amuses me but I'm sure the ladies of rateclubs have choice words for them. Still I can't hate, gotta do what you gotta do, just be respectful and classy my friends. It was fun there was a nice side section to relax your tired feet that was not reserved and you can see the stage from a good angle, it also is a nice makeout/etc spot since it's dark and bouncers sometimes come around and flash their little light on you. They were also pretty OCD about cleaning up cups left, but I guess that's good, ice and spilled drinks can really screw up the floor and stuff. Still it was awkward being pushed aside by a bouncer/crew with a big trashcan grabbing my drinks. Also the staff was kinda being punkish about people on the stage or even sitting on the catwalk thing or leaning on it. They pushed my g/f a few times cuz we were using the catwalk for dance leverage... They also kinda shoved some girl off too, which sucked. Maybe a safety thing but they could say please move and not push someone off. But a night for drinks flowing and dancing to cool tunes with my girlfriend and her friends and my best friend cannot be beat. I only wished they played more EDM jams rather than just top 40 or samples from deadMau5 or Armin (its such a tease). So yeah, this place is pretty nice, decor is alright, the sound system is rocking, on the house/techno nights the music is awesome and the drink is strong, the crowd is varied which could be a bad or good thing depending on what you're into. Maybe I'm lucky but this club has been good/decent to me so the average for me comes high. Anyway Vanguard on a house night esp with like big names and other local DJs as well, hit it up and I'm pretty sure the sound and hustle will not disappoint

I hate to say that I'm not a big fan of this venue, mostly due to the neighborhood. However, they've been having good and eclectic performers, such as: Yann Tiersen, Thao, Sunset Rubdown; so I couldn't help going there despite the scary neighborhood. The sound is a OK.. the place is a bit stinky but that might be because it's kinda old. However, price-wise it's about the same as The Fillmore, which is obviously safer and cleaner. I certainly won't go there by myself and make sure to hide all my belongings in my car.
