This place is best done during the week, like most places in Manhattan. I like the small size, it feels exclusive but not cramped like some small places can. I'm not into the megaclubs like Mansion or Pacha. I much prefer chilling with my friends at a table and dancing on couches. Vodka and champagne were free flowing, music was great and the crowd stayed late (even for a Monday). That's how I measure a good club.... Like most of my reviews, I can't comment on prices or service really, because I only go here with promoters... And on that note, I have to say something looking at some of these reviews... If you are girl who is well-dressed and attractive, I hope you realize you never ever EVER have to pay to get in a club or pay for drinks! And you don't need to flirt with some sleezy guy or be super connected either. You could honestly just head to a club district around 12-12:30am and look for a big group of people (most will be young girls) and speak with the promoter. Once you know one well-connected promoter, you will know everyone in the small club world. It is their job to bring in a beautiful, fun crowd of people, so you are actually doing them a favor! I know it sounds crazy, and I even couldn't believe it at first! But seriously, stop this paying for drinks nonsense ladies...

Two stars. Justification: 1. Stan. As stated previously, Stan IS the man. He worked with me to plan my friends birthday party here last Saturday night (Allyson H. and Leah B. below were in attendance). In working with Stan, he reserved a few tables for my group (free of charge) and asked me to provide him with a guest list. I can't be sure the guest list was actually used since I spent the majority of the night inside, but it at least seemed like a quasi-official way to handle a birthday bash. 2. The birthday girl had a great night. Upon walking into bOb bar, I was a little taken back. I could not believe how SMALL and BRIGHT (we are talking about a LES bar afterall) the place was - pictures of this place are highly deceiving. I quickly identified our "section" and had to move other patrons out of it. Everyone in attendance hit the bar and then the dancefloor (essentially just the middle of the room). Drinks were cheap - if memory serves me correctly, roughly $8. As much as I can appreciate inexpensive alcohol, I would be more than happy to pay more for better music! Several people in my party, myself included, spoke to the DJ several times and asked that he play something we might have heard in the last 8 years. After several attempts to get the music changed, we finally heard 30 second snapshots of britney spears and usher before returning to the likes of early 90s hip hop. Despite the music selection, my party nearly occupied the entire dancefloor and had a great night. Best of all, the birthday girl had an awesome time! Here is my bottom line: bOb bar is small, inexpensive, and has poor music. If you can get a large enough group together (including a friend to DJ for you) to fill up the place (roughly 50), then bOb will instantly become your private LES dance party!

On the night I went, I got free VIP and drinks and the Federation performed stunna glasses with us as their back up dancers! great night However the music was so-so and the crowd was not diverse (mostly asian). I didn't pay to get in but I think it wouldn't be worth much... go to zanzibar
