by dan h. on We searched far and wide for a place to watch the pac-man fight and to my surprise nothing within walking distance was showing it. That was a big shock since there are a lot of sport's bars in my area. But none like abbey's. now that is a major big-time sports bar! I've never seen a bigger screen or more screens in one place. This is an event watching venue without a doubt. $20 cover, which I take it was required, because of the amount they paid for the privilege of showing the fight. The screen was the size of a small AMC theater screen. They set the place up with chairs. The beers were flowing and reasonably priced. Much of the crowd was latino since the fight schedule had a couple of fighters, including Margarito from Mexico. They didn't have much to cheer about since Margarito got totally pummeled by Manny P. btw, note-worthy is that the main fight was scheduled for 6pm but didn't actually start till after 8pm. Guess that's the way they always announce those things.
by Johnnie Steadings on Uhm....this place wasn't all that "spectacular". My friend had been before for drinks, and said it was a pretty cool setting. I went on a date for Valentine's Day and hated it. HATED IT! Half of the menu was foreign to me, and when I asked the waitress for some help (the random chance that she was even at our table...another story entirely!) she looked confused, as if to say "Wait...you expect that I know what this stuff is? But I just serve it...that's all..." The food was marginal when it did arrive. The waitress was NEVER around...I wish that was an understatement, but I had nothing to drink for about 30 minutes. And when she did show up she was short and seemed like it was an inconvenience that we were needing her help. The ONLY reason I am giving this place a second star is because they had Casablanca playing on the wall. If not for that, they'd be getting one star. You're lucky, people of Medjool, that you have good taste in "playing on the walls" movies. Lucky...
