by Arminda Beddingfield on I wish I could give Woodfire Grill more than five stars! My husband and I agree that this was one of the best meals we have ever eaten. We were visiting from out of town and came here to celebrate our anniversary dinner. Being a big Top Chef fan, I had pretty high expectations, and hands down, this place delivered. The restaurant itself is cozy and very nicely decorated. We were seated right by the open fire grill which was really neat. Upon making our reservation the hostess had asked if we were celebrating anything special. When the waiter brought us our menus, they were specially printed to wish us a happy anniversary -- very sweet! We opted for the five course tasting menu. I don't want to post what the courses were because it was a blind tasting menu, and I don't want to ruin the surprise for anyone -- that was half the fun! But I will say everything was perfect! All of the flavors on each dish went so well together, it was really amazing. The ingredients were fresh and seasonal, and the dishes were delicious and beautiful while still feeling rustic. Each course was stellar, and we started getting so excited between courses to see what tasty treat our server would bring out next. At one point my husband even cheered when one of the courses came out, causing our waitress to burst out laughing. But seriously beware -- you may feel the need to spontaneously cheer when you eat this food. Service was impeccable, and you could tell the waitstaff really enjoyed working there and describing the food. The homemade breads and the delicious butter spreads were also outstanding. At the end of the evening, our waiter gave us two packages of truffles to take home as a gift on our anniversary. Such a nice touch! Oh, and one other wonderful aspect about this restaurant was the music. It seriously sounded like they took my husband's or my iPod and were playing it. It was almost freaky how many of our favorite songs they played. The last song of the evening as we were paying our check was a song that reminds both of us of when we first met, and it is such a memory-inducing song for both of us, and fairly obscure (The Dandy Warhols "You Were the Last High"), neither of us could believe they were playing it. Such a perfect way to end the evening!
by Glen D. on Go there if you want to be looked down on by the help, not be able to talk to your dining partner, and wait forever for everything except to be rushed out of there after you've paid the huge sum of a bill. The food was better than I'd expect, but everyhting else was just way too much show...
by Julian Lynum on Where to go for a business dinner? Oh, I know! Being the Sex in the City fan that I am, a must try is certainly Tao. Upon arriving, my co-worker and I sat in the bar area while waiting for our guest. The drinks were fabulous. One question though. Why must martini's be made all the way to the very top of the glass? Spillage is inevitable. I want to enjoy my drink, not wear it (hint hint to all you bartenders out there). Once our guest arrived, we were brought to our table upstairs. The view was wonderful. The giant buddha, along with the ability to people watch on the lower level crowd made this a perfect table. The food was fantastic, albeit overpriced, but definitely fantastic. I did not try the sushi, but heard it was delicious. We all ordered desert as well, to see what type of creations would be brought. My co-worker ordered the gigantasized fortune cookie. It was fabulous! Even the fortunes come in super size. I ordered the banana pudding. It was deeeeeelicious. Wow. Big fan of this restaurant, though it's definitely a go once in a while kind of place due to the price tag. A must try for splurging!
