Great place to shake your tail feather. The Downside is that the crowd is theme based, so if you're just trying to find a decent place on any given day of the week, it's hard to guesstimate "who" or "what crowd" will be there. They have Asian night, Hip Hop night and I dunno whatever else... it's just hit or miss sometimes depending on who you're trying to be around. Anytime I've gone it's been a great time either way. Drinks are solid but pricey, and I enjoy the large dance floor. Beware of the Lines that can wrap around like it's 6 flags, and the covers if you're arriving late.

I usually frequent the Thursday "House Music" nights in the Lava Lounge part of CosmoLava. I don't ever venture into the Cosmopolitan Lounge area. This being said, I enjoy myself every time I come here. The DJ's usually play NYC/Chicago Deep, Soulful, Funky House and occasionally will host great guest DJ's as well. Atmosphere is usually chill and funky the way deep house is meant to be. Crowd attendance is sporadic... some evenings it's slow and sometimes it's packed. I don't usually drink but when I do, the drinks are reasonably priced. The bartenders are attentive and friendly. Parking is hit or miss. There is parking right next to the Lounge but the prices change every time I go so I just glance around for the cheapest price since all the parking is shared with other clubs around the corner. I definitely will come here again during their House Music Thursdays. If you come before 11pm, there's no cover. Otherwise cover is $10.

When I say that Buddha Bar was "average," please don't take that to mean that average to me is a 30 foot Buddha, ambient techno, and a faux Buddhist monastery. In those respects, Buddha Bar is a triumphant display of set design that certainly succeeds at creating a distinctive atmosphere that makes you think you're anywhere but the Meat Packing District. The average part was, well, everything else. The service was pretty normal -- no better than in a random Italian joint on your block. And the food was good-but-not-remarkable, and certainly not remarkable for $30 per plate. I had the duck. It tasted like a very nicely cooked duck. I recommend Buddha Bar for people who want an "experience" dinner at a concept restaurant. It succeeds in the way Disneyland succeeds in making you think a pirate is going to pour rum on you. You have fun. You gasp at the pirate. But you never actually think it's the real deal.
