by V C. on As a venue in and of itself, Blue Note sucks. I wouldn't willingly go to Blue Note if it wasn't for the awesome acts that Blue Note is able to bring in. VERY, very packed venue. This isn't an exaggeration, it is a cattle drive in there, tables and bar. Food is relatively expensive and not special, though not bad. The stage is ghetto and the the walls and carpets are covered in dirty blue felt (pictures look a lot better than the real deal). The sound system is terribly loud with little detail and too much echo. Most of the customers seem to be tourists from out of the area, and there's a lot of silly background talking. The power was cut to certain areas of the venue at the end of the show. The cash registers were still on and the lights on the stage and at the exit worked, but everything else was dark. I think they did this to quickly clear the area for the next show in 30 minutes. I had to use my cellphone to light up the bathroom; I guess it's actually a good thing for me since I didn't have to compete with others to pee in the dark. Blue Note is fortunate to be able to ride on its history since frankly despite my bad review I'd be back to see a good musician. Just know to set your expectations really low.
by Danilo Zingler on Many of my friends tell me they are tired of the club scene. Tired of the long lines, high covers, bottle service and steroid-crazed bouncers. Tired of the thugs that will beat you down outside the club, or the frat boys that will beat on you in the club. I always tell them the same thing, go to bOb. bOb is not about being trendy or fashionable, it's about dancing and having a good time.The place is small so if your claustrophobic this might not be for you. The crowd is pretty diverse and lacks the pretentious posing found at most other clubs. I discovered this place about 2 yrs ago, staggering out of Sapphire Lounge and have been a regular ever since. You also won't go broke having a good time.$5 cover and drinks between $6-10.
