When I called Alfredo's to make a reservation, the man on the phone was charming and sweet, setting my expectations way too high customer service-wise. Our waiter was hostile and taciturn. So much for Italian hospitality. No hugs and kisses for me... My sister and I ordered three appetizers for our table of six who we were treating as a Christmas prezzie. The calamari, escargot and stuffed mushrooms were so small that each of us sampled only a spoonful. The calamari was tastily standard; the escargot, flavorful but oily; and the stuffed mushrooms, not really stuffed but mounded with cold breading. My sea bass entree stole the show. Lightly pan seared, the fish flaked onto my fork and into my salivating mouth, along with the tender mushrooms that topped it. The side of spaghetti with marinara sauce helped fill me up. Two of our dining companions ordered the regular spaghetti entree, smeared with a heap of meat that honestly looked like doo-doo. They picked their food and hungrily munched the hot, buttery garlic bread instead. My sister seemed to enjoy her scallops and shrimp liguria entree, although the scallops sat rubbery and overcooked. Our dear family friends who requested the lasagna and fettuccine alfredo shrugged at the mediocrity. A cup of cafe au lait helped my nausea subside over taking our friends to such an "eh" eatery for their Christmas gift.

Although I've never been here on an actual club night, we do alot of company/industry events at Ruby Skye.  My review is solely for the space and quality of drinks. Although its no Mezzanine, this is a really nice space to have events at.  The blinding "Carrie-esque" red lights that beam over the couches is distracting (and gives me a headache...) along with the -musty- smell that lingers in the air but I can see how this place can get HYYPHYYY during club nights.  There's private seating areas everywhere... on the stage, in the back of the ground floor, upstairs in a private room, and on the sides of the second floor.  Geezus. I really like the entrance area and look of the club from outside.  Looks so classic.. like a place your parents used to go to for cocktails and swing or.. whatever was hot at the time... Drinks are strong.  Not sure about price because I haven't had to pay for one yet... Bartenders are cool and friendly. I've seen plenty of plastered girls stumbling out of this club accompanied by guys in popped-up collared shirts.  They look like they had a good night... and an even better night to come?!  :) Great space!

I've been to Roe twice and I was unimpressed both times.  The first visit was during Halloween, when they charged a ludicrous cover charge of $50 (when it was $40 about 30 minutes before I got there).  The DJs that evening were not the best in the West.  The DJ upstairs kept missing his beats and the transitions between songs weren't smooth.  Drinks are pretty pricey, but they aren't chintzy with the liquor. My company Holiday party was also held at Roe.  The food they served was terrible; the only thing that saved me was the Kobe beef appetizer with cucumbers and garlic sauce.  If you like grease, try the samosas and egg rolls.  You'll feel your arteries clog up within minutes.  The spicy tuna roll and vegetarian roll were poor renditions of maki sushi.  The sushi rice was too hard, and the spicy tuna roll had too much mayonnaise. This place is a poor attempt at an Asian fusion restaurant.  They should stick to one thing and do it well. If you like the club scene vibe you could stop by this place, but it isn't a club you'll frequent every weekend.  If you want to spend a lot of money, listen to mediocre DJs, and pay a lot for your drinks, hit Roe.  They accept Amex, which is a plus, but you'll leave this place inebriated and your pockets may be empty.
