by Marni Bunch on This Blue Martini breathes some much needed night life for those Kendallites that are tired of heading all the way to Brickell or the Beach for some booty-shaking and martini drinking. It's just too bad that half the clientele in the Kendall based Blue Martini look as if they were all just bussed in from the nearby Leon Medical Center. The vibe here is....weird. It has all the workings and shakings of the Blue Martini we know and love- and a killer happy hour and Ladies night-half off the drinks, and the food- their mini rack of lamb is worth a go-and the live bands also give Blue Martini an edge over the nearest local competition, Gatsby's. Even though it says "dress code strictly enforced" this is obviously just a "no shorts/sneakers" policy- the times I've gone some of the people in there were not up to "dress code"- which just makes it all the more ridiculous when they turn away a nicely dressed guy in sneakers- you can't handle a good pairs of kicks but Abuela can come with her muffin top out and una bata de casa?? dependable happy hours, drinks, and a cast of characters ranging from Que Pasa USA - Jersey Shore, Kendall Style- it makes for an entertaining people watching venue.
by Ebony H. on After hearing about the enormity and grandeur of the Georgia Aquarium my boyfriend and I finally decided to go. We purchased our tickets (online) for Saturday not realizing that the website requests for you to select a time for arrival (and the options are only based on how many tickets they have available for any one give time). We couldn't book our tickets for 9am arrival it was SOLD OUT and therefore had to settle for next available time of 2 pm. We got there around 1:15pm and found parking at the Marriott (only $5 for the first three hours). We bypassed the long line and got up to the front only to be denied entry because it wasn't 2pm (yet)! They were very strict on what time you could enter the aquarium - and for good reason...The place was PACKED!!!! After grabbing a bite to eat and catching some AC at Baja Fresh for 45mins we went back to the aquarium and stood in line for about 20 mins. This line was short compared to those trying to purchase tickets at the door. DEFINITELY GET YOUR TICKETS ONLINE! We eventually made it past check-in and after a brief 'family photo' in front of the green screen we were finally in the aquarium. This place is definitely holds its title of largest aquarium in the US. The exhibits are divided by the locations as to where the sea life can be found (i.e. cold water, ocean, swamp, coral reefs, etc.) The Ocean exhibit was the largest and probably the most packed because they have actual whales in this exhibit!!! The tanks are huge and you really get an idea of what it's like to be deep in the ocean. Overall, I'd definitely go again maybe during the week when it wouldn't be as busy. Pros: This place offers an amazing array of sea life and is also very educational. Cons: Way too many people (keep in mind I went on a Saturday) and there tends to be a lot of pushing and shoving from not only kids but even some adults to get close up to the windows to see the fish and even take pictures.
