If you like GoldBar then you're desperate for attention and lacking in taste.  I guess that's why it's a New Money-larva spot in the first place: they know just what their clientele demands! The drinks are overpriced even for Manhattan, the service is laughable as well as uneducated about the products they sell, the Sunday night DJ (who was the whole point of my being there in the first place) needs some work even if the sheer breadth of tracks was solid, and they allow people to smoke cigarettes inside.  Where's my double thumbs-down emoticon?! The architecture IS pretty sweet though... But hey, if you all want to go there then I won't stop you.  In fact, I'd _prefer_ you go to GoldBar so I won't have to put up with you at whatever bar I actually end up at.  There - now we're ALL happy.

I would have to say this is probably the best dance spot on 6th street. Whenever we are in Austin we make sure we spend some time at this awesome place. The music is always good and the dancing is always great. I'm not sure if its the drinks but the people here are all really friendly and don't mind dancing. The DJ always mixes in some good tunes. The only draw back i must say is the bartening service always too packed but its a bar what do you expect. This place has 3 different levels and all are good.

when i wanna stuff my face with sweet potato fries and mini buttery biscuits while listening to above average jazzy funky bluesy live music, i come here. haha, pretty specific, huh? well here's another one: sinful eats and toe-tapping music on a wednesday night beats the hell out of playing wii all by yourself in your skeezy house clothes and apple jacks for dinner, while you wish you bought more one player games or curse comcast for not making more interesting free movies on ondemand. true story. yes, my life is that dull. anyways, reading on... i prefer the downstairs lounge, which is the one you have to buy tickets for. the upstairs lounge is a bit too raucous for me, with limited seating and overly-friendly men that spit on you while they talk. the bar upstairs takes FOREVER to get a drink. perhaps i'm too short or something? the downstairs part has more seating, with tables and chairs like a comedy show. the venue is small and personal, and you can hear each instrument crisply. food is served both upstairs and downstairs, though i've had more luck getting hotter food downstairs. the chicken is just okay, imho... not the best, but not the worst, either. i wouldn't recommend getting it if you're not ravenous-- the pieces are pretty huge. upstairs: 2 stars downstairs: 3.5 stars music: 4 stars overall stars: 3.2
