by Pierre S. on Oh how the mighty have fallen. The firs time i went to webster hall was maybe 10 years ago. I was alot younger and the NYC scene was a lot livelier. While Webster hall has managed to survive new york club clean up, its defiantly a shell of its former self. One thing to note about webster hall. This is really a COLLEGE student type of club now (it sorta was when i first went). So certian nonsense is expected. Pros: +Cheap shows. If you follow any of the many organizers for the place its possible to get in to Webster for as little as $1 or even free. This comes in handy when your fav DJ/proformer happens to do a show on that same night. Verious Dubstep/House/trance DJ's play these kinda shows at least once a month. +Many rooms: This was one of the cooler things about the hall which just hasn't been the same since i've been back recently. But still a pro. There are 5 different rooms which cater to the different taste of the crowd. Hip-hop, House, Trance, indie Rock, and Top 40. NOTE: The last few times i've gone this year, i've noticed less of a difference in what they play in each room. Seems like everyone was playing it safe with top 40. *yawn* Cons: long lines. sorry i'm just too old for that crap. If you arrive around 11, expect to get in by 11:30-40. Even when there's NO ONE INSIDE. Teeny boopers: Sometimes 18 is the minimum age to enter. yeah, i'll just leave it at that. $$$ Drinks: at midnight the drink prices go up by 2 to 3 times. A beer went from $4 to $10 in the blink of an eye.
by Altha Tabor on I gave it 3 stars because after your second visit, it seems a bit repetitive. its not so huge, but they do have some good stores and its always nice to go and browse. The movie theater/night club was a nice edition, they have a big bear on the far parking lot, so that's a plus i guess? So overall, its not to die for, but its not a bad mall, best time to go is on the weekends. :) The people are really nice and stuff is cheap, the cart dealers are always willing to strike and deal as well.
