by Galen Bohrn on We were supposed to go here for my sister's birthday and all of us were really looking forward to it. We walk a mile to get there and as soon as we turn the corner we see a line going all the way down and around the corner. We told them we were on the guest list and they said that it would take around 45min-hr to get in. We weren't about to waste her birthday night waiting in line and then most likely waiting an hour for drinks... So we ran to the piano bar nearby and had a great night instead.
by Maria S. on I usually frequent the Thursday "House Music" nights in the Lava Lounge part of CosmoLava. I don't ever venture into the Cosmopolitan Lounge area. This being said, I enjoy myself every time I come here. The DJ's usually play NYC/Chicago Deep, Soulful, Funky House and occasionally will host great guest DJ's as well. Atmosphere is usually chill and funky the way deep house is meant to be. Crowd attendance is sporadic... some evenings it's slow and sometimes it's packed. I don't usually drink but when I do, the drinks are reasonably priced. The bartenders are attentive and friendly. Parking is hit or miss. There is parking right next to the Lounge but the prices change every time I go so I just glance around for the cheapest price since all the parking is shared with other clubs around the corner. I definitely will come here again during their House Music Thursdays. If you come before 11pm, there's no cover. Otherwise cover is $10.
by Hiram Woloszyn on Love the venue, hate the prices! The place is beautiful, it has a warm, orangy glow to it, thanks to the paper lanterns! Also some really interesting Asian decor. There are 2 slabs on either side of the stage which both have a Buddha-like profile on it, very interesting to me as it had a medical slant to it. Above the stage there is also a dragon which breaths out mist. Very kewl. They also have a dining area, which is unique in itself, in that you can watch a show while sitting. The only compaint is probably the price. It cost $14 for a so-so margarita and it cost $7 to check my coat (3 for coat, 2 for the umbrella and 2 for tip), jesus at that price, I can get a new coat at H&M. But really...it is a very nice venue, not one that I can afford every weekend, but its a nice night on the town :)
