We went to a comedy show nearby so we had happy hour at Medjool (5-7pm) then returned there later that night for drinks and dancing Happy hour- Fantastic!! A whole menu w/ $5 items CANT be beat. I had 2 glasses of the Malbec (decent tasting red wine. And really, I just cant complain when they give you a nice full 5 or 6 oz for $5.) We also ordered food: Crispy Sweet Potatoes- definitely order this. They're cubed like breakfast potatoes and lightly drizzled with honey and some delicious spice. They're not overly fried but have lightly crisped corners with soft, sweet centers. Flatbread pizza- Crispy crust, overloaded with slightly oily veggie toppings. Probably the best bang for you buck (filling and tasty). Chicken skewers - Good, but nothing special. 3 small skewers w/ 3 bites of chicken on each and a side of peanut sauce. If you buy the $1 pita side, you can take advantage of all the extra sauce. Drinks and dancing later that night: come before 10:30 to avoid a cover. ($10) $8 for a shot of tequila!? I've been in LA too long b/c I was ECSTATIC about this. (no watering it down with ice either. Just a straight, generous pour. Great bartender (still gave me water despite me blindly missing the self serve station next to the bar) Dance floor: were there college students here? Not that I could tell!! And that's fine by me. I was very happy with the crowd of 25+somethings and above. Also, there was no standard LA "tight-squeeze" onto an overcrowded dance floor. Medjool had plenty of dancers to mingle with but still PLENTY of space to actually DANCE. A wide range of throwbacks and classic hits (think Montel Jordan and Journey) mixed with all the good current stuff (lady gaga etc.). SF residents, I'm so jealous you have Medjool. Reasonable prices, mature (but not too mature) crowd, and awesome dance music will have me talking, dreaming, longing for this place for months to come.

$20 to get in, but call ahead and get on the guest list and you won't have to wait in line. The interior decor is AWESOME; Very, Very, Very nice!! VERY Spacious!! The go-go dancers were FABULOUS, especially the guy and the Asian girl - she tore it up ALL NIGHT!!!! We just so happened to go on a night when several popular dancers made appearances from "So You Think You Can Dance", "America's Best Dance Crew", and League of Extraordinary Dancers." The DJ played all the right music, just wished he would play most of them for more than 30 secs!!
