Good food, nothing I can say about this place that hasn't been said except- if you weren't aware there was a show- and the huge stage and LOUD music starting in the middle of your dinner didn't tip you off.. Like it didn't to us, you will see $10 per person added to your bill.

The Edison is like watching Avitar...once the experience is over, going back to the "real world" is pretty much let down. Going from a feeling like you were thrown back in time to a fabulous speak-easy and then walking back out into the world of 2010, makes you want to go back to that world. Every time I go, I get a rush that is totally different from any themed joint in LA. So besides my fairytale like bliss reasons above, here's why you should go: 1. Great music (both live and recorded), and generally (I say generally depending on where you're sitting and if there is a live band while you're there)  you can ACTUALLY hold a conversation with the person you're talking to, a rarity in LA places. Authentic & fun atmosphere and  lots to keep even the most jaded guests entertained. 2. The food is fab but most famously The Edison is known for the grilled cheese and tomato soup, and it's worth the hype. 3. The drinks, although expensive, are usually strong and their wine list is pretty good. 4. Even when the place is pretty packed, you can find a seat or at the very least, a nook to stand with your group. Plus, if you call ahead, they take reservations for large parties. 5. Smoking room for cigars and cigarettes upstairs. 6. When there's live music, people actually dance, and not hooker, I'm in a rap video dancing. Actual dancing. You'll see what I mean when you go. Couple things to remember: 1. It's expensive. No way to get around it so just expect it. 2. They have a dress code. I find that to be a HUGE PRO but the con is that they are not as strict about it as they used to be. Unfortunately, LA is a casual place and soooome people don't really understand what is appropriate dress for a place like this. They really should set the bar higher, like they used to. The good part is you don't have to be afraid to be over dressed. Go ahead and get dolled up and have fun with it! Why not? 3. Valet is really only the way to go, so bring cash. 4. I'm not 100% sure, but last I checked they are closed on Mondays...which was rather disappointing once night after work. So I adore The Edison, and if you go in with an open mind and perhaps a sense of wonderment, you'll love it too. Cheers!

I love sketchy brooklyn parties. I've been to many and most of them. But for some reason I had gone three years without having ever gone to Rubulad, probably because it's a bitch to get to flushing/ + : -really cool decor hanging from ceilings and all over the place -winding around 3 floors of different feeling spaces is really fun -all the weird music and performances you can stand -a true attempt by the owners to create something "out there" -cool themes - : -(and this is a HUGE one): it's insanely overcrowded and sweaty, you spend the whole time there being pushed by bodies and having to shove your way through the crowd. It's like being born but instead being in a womb, you're being squeezed through 900 hipster kids trying not to burn you with their cigarettes. -sloppy drunk underage kids.. burning you with their cigarettes.
