I got dressed to the nines and arrived with my sweetheart only to be turned away by the door staff for noncompliance with the dress code. I couldn't understand which garment was prohibited, as it was loud and the door staff was neither specific nor articulate. I was wearing black 100% leather shoes, gray slacks, and a solid black collared shirt. My lady was in a conservative black dress and leather boots. I noticed a patron right near the front door wearing cheap acid-wash jeans and a knit top with no collar, as well as a lady in some trashy rhinestone jeans so obviously the dress code has nothing to do with taste or formality. Were my lady and I turned away for being gringos?

Wow why is everyone so hard on Temporary Spaces? I am a sort-of regular on Wednesday nights (Booby Trap). I admit that it isn't as fun as it was 6+ months ago (too crowded now, it gets suffocatingly hot inside, starting to see an influx of baby lesbians with fake IDs) but whenever I go, I have a good time. Bartenders are super sweet, bottled beer is reasonably priced, and I have never had a mixed drink or any hard liquor here so I got nothing to say about that. The crowd is a little bit more interesting than the weho crowd (though I admit i havent been to weho in months!) and better looking than the eagle/shotgun crowd (RIP). The venue is so small that it's easy to feel a little bit claustrophobic, and as mentioned before it can get suffocatingly hot. The patio area is not much of an escape or relief because it's super crowded out there, too.. and still really stuffy. Plus now you're choking on someone else's cigarette smoke. The music is excellent, the dance floor is always packed, and I ultimately love this place cos of the welcome familiar faces. Went on a Saturday night once (Big)-- music was just as good, venue was just as packed, and it was nice to see a different crowd. Namely that gorgeous tall girl with long, dark, wavy hair who was with a skinny hipster guy-friend with glasses that probably had clear lenses. I doubt I've narrowed it down at all, but oh well.
