I say its more a 3.5 star review since I have mixed feelings ! I also definetely say to go with money to spend /charge card and definetely seems worth to reserve a table/go with the bottle service option ..and I'll get to the why ....see below. I went  there with a couple of friends on Saturday night 12/18/10 to celebrate my birthday ! Frist , I must say that S.O.B.'s management , especially Sophie G. was very helpful and curteous at all times , especially since I had called 2 - 3 times to ask questions, try to set up a guestlist , etc. They answered all my questions , gave me several options, and even when I declined all of their party packages they still accomodated me with a reduced price guestlist at the Door ...from S.O.B. management ,  and  NOT  from the promoter Upscale Ent. who promoted the Carribean Blends Party that started at Midnight .  Actually , I have to thank a staff at S.O.B.'s because when I called and asked about the Carribean Blends and the Upscale Ent. Promoter , she told me that the promoters often advertise it as free before a certain time, but they leave you waiting outside for long periods of time in the cold , so suggested that I was better off going with the S.O.B. reduced price guestlist for $10 , and my friends and I would be able to get in hassle free.  So I decided to go with that and im glad I didn't go with the Upscale Ent . because later that night I did see a long line outside for people waiting to get in from upscale ent.  and I was glad I didn't have to wait ! I got there with a friend around 9 p.m. because I wanted to catch some of the Brazil show , with the live band and Samba dancers . The bouncer was very friendly and let me in for free as it was my actual birthday that day.  The show was great with live dancers, the band was great , and the crowd was very interesting at that time/very mixed but a lot of couples and a lot of people there for the dinner and with table reservations.  Everyone seemed to get very into it , they even gave us some "maracas" to shake around during the Samba Dancing...that was pretty fun. Since I had not reserved a table/done bottle service , my friends and I were standing by the bar most of the night ..this is why I recommend table/bottle service because S.O.B.s is not like most clubs/venues im used to where even if you don't order bottle service you can usually find a place to sit ...they strictly have tables only /and it's by reservation , so if you don't do this be ready to be standing all night ..usually not a problem for me since I like to dance all night long , but since I got there so early it was def hard on my feet. The drinks were pretty pricey , but at the same time standard for NYC comparable venues ...ranging from $11 and up ! I had mostly Caipirinhas , and a Mango Tequila Sunrise which was very tasty although a little on the weak side for the price (also $11). Overall I feel the drinks were on the weak side for the prices. The music was mixed , earlier in the night ..it was a good mix of music , but once the Carribean Blends party started they played mostly Reggae. I was dissapointed in this since they advertised all kinds of carribean music would be played including Socca, Calypso, Jook, etc. ...but really they played Reggae and Hip-Hop most of the night , and after a while a couple of songs were actually repeats.  The way the DJ transitioned between songs was also not the best, it wasn't smooth as it should be ...so maybe they need a better DJ for the Carribean Blends. The place did get pretty crowded for the Carribean Blends party , a lot of males , but at the same time the crowd did seem friendlier and more into actual dancing that other places where sometimes people just stand around and stare. Overall I would go back , but I would probabaly avoid the Carribean Blends party , I liked the ambiance better when it was the live band/mixed music ! I would definetely invest in table service though...so i would have the option of having a place to sit /rather than standing all night !

Headed here this passed weekend to wrap up a bachelorette party. I really enjoyed myself. Althought I've come here about 3 or 4 times in the past I have yet to visit all the different rooms. The girls and I had a great time dancing the night away. The bouncers were freaking awesome! Full of conversation, and seemed to really enjoy posing with and for us. The crowd here is pretty laid back, everyone seems like their main focus is having a good time as opposed to wanting to be seen. Thanks to all the guys that provided much needed entertainment with the interesting dance skills...But to the fiesty chick playing bathroom moniter, it's the freaking bathroom, it's not the serious...
