Not sure how to "star" this. Because the place has its purpose and is fine for that, not for me though...read to the end, it's not a bad review by any means. Enforce strict dress code Give girls reason to get extra dolled up Make it difficult to get in, despite plenty of room Resulting in everyone accepting ridiculous drink prices Profit I applaud the owners for pulling it off in Socal. Went on a Friday night. Nice place, interesting architecture, big and lots of seats, service was good, drinks were nothing special. Didn't have the food. Music was not bad not great, but you're not here for the music/dancing. I had a good time though, also due to the group I was with. THE SCENE: Lots of girls just loving getting to put on their cocktail dress, enjoying the attention, and subsequently their bf's or singles following with credit card to pay for drinks, LOL. Yuppified posturing in full effect. You know what' I'm talking about, walk around and lots of "look at me" and everyone sizing eachother up. Not hating though, that's life and there's a need for such places. THE VERDICT: I would definitely use this place to entertain out-of-towners, business guests, a female friend's birthday party, impressing the lady type of thing. For these purposes, I'd say it'd be one of the better ones in LA. Would I go there for my own pleasure? Not likely. Requires way too much excess effort for a fun night of drinking lol.

Gorgeous venue, cheap drinks for a music venue in the City, and it's not impossible to find parking if you're coming from the Easy Bay and don't have time for BART and a 9 block walk. It should be called the Great American Meat Hall, though - at times I could smell pungent fish odors, bacon, and chicken wafting through the hall. There's definitely something behind those meat curtains. I was down for Thao, but not so much for the Thermals, who I'm not as familiar with, and they went on a little late for me on a work night. I haven't been here in about ten years, but I'd definitely be down (and stay down) for another show here anytime.
