This is the 2nd time I've ever been to the Circle in the fashion district. Some of my Korean friends from out of town wanted a "real New York City" clubbing experience with a Korean crowd - this is the place to go for that. After midnight, it's a $20 cover per head. They have a coat check which is $4 per person. The interior is not so large and especially so during the peak hours when everywhere is just a mass of humanity. We went on a Saturday night, especially busy for this club. Music is BOOOOMING loud hip hop/house/sometimes Kpop provided by DJs/a sax player/violin player. The drinks run pretty expensive (3 midori sours were $36 plus tax/tip). Clientele is vastly Korean but a smattering of other asians as well. On the younger side...I'd say lower 20's to late 20's. They have some sort of super fog/fan machine that goes off every once in a while and completely whites out the room and cools it down at the same time. The first time you experience it, you may get a little freaked out because you literally cannot see the person standing right in front of you but at some point, it's a God send when you're sweating like it's your job. The only other thing of note...this most recent visit one of the staff (madmen suits and the circle logo painted on their faces) invited my friends and I for a shot. My friend ended up not going but I was led to the VIP tables and seated with 3 guys. It was just weird. They offered me a shot of J Black, some fruit and chatted with me politely in Korean as best we could considering we were screaming into each other's ears. I left to find my friend's again inside 5 minutes...I didn't know Circle had it's own pimping service....? In any case. If you're young and Korean and you want to get drunk and dance and drop some cash, go to Circle.

Sorry Gloria! Your food SUCKS!!! Your french fries were cold and your "fish chunks" (isn't there a better name for that on your menu?) were greasy and floppy. Service was OK, but the food just BLEW for like $16.95. Only good thing about this spot is they actually have bongos that you can bang your forehead on. Other than that, $6 beers weren't bad either. I was expecting like $9 beers after that food. BOOOOOOOO!! TOURIST TRAP!!!!!

Caught a co-worker's friends' band here a while back. Maybe it's something about me loving anything that's reminiscent of a cave, but Cafe Du Nord reminded me of the bi-product from an old saloon and the German underground - I liked it.  All it was missing was thick clouds of cigar smoke and shots of absinthe. The ambiance was all red and dark and sensual, moderately wanted to rub up against a wall while I was there. While the sound system was not the best in the word, this live venue is small but powerful. The crowd was also an interesting mix of heads, from older ladies who appeared to be out for a weeknight-on-the-town, to hipsters and even poshy hobnobs. I enjoyed my first experience here and would go back for more. I'm a picky bitch when it comes to my cocktails and since the new(er)Grey Goose Pear was in my line of sight I asked the bartendress to please concoct me a drink involving it.  She asked how sweet I wanted it and began mixing away - the miracle comes now: She made like three different drinks and let me take little sips of them to see whether or not I liked them.  Now, how considerate is that?  Bless her little mixologist heart.
