I really enjoyed my experience at this place, because it suited what I was looking for--which was cheap tex mex and a new environment. One of my favorite things about the night my friend and I went was that it was apparently "1/2 price bottles of wine night." So THAT was fun. Even though drinking wine with mexican food may be weird to some, wine is all I really like to drink these days, so it suited perfectly. Occasionally it was difficult to get a hold of our waiter, but mostly he was quick. I was disappointed in the size of my plate of food (flautas), and the flautas themselves left a little to be desired, BUT the rice and beans were so good! And the chips and salsa. Finally, the crowning glory and my favorite part of the night, was the chocolate cake, which was oozing chocolate and had a hint of cinnamon flavor, with delicious mexican vanilla ice cream on the side. So good! We had a great time sitting by the window, watching all the crazies on 6th walk by. I enjoyed the decor--especially the bar, which was back lit in changing colors. It was a fun night, with satisfying food and a ticket that didn't make me wince. I'd say if you're looking for a place to get some good food before your night on the town, try this place.

Long ago and far away when I lived near LACMA, we were thrilled when Busbys II open. Finally, a neighboor sports and dance bar to call our own. The original bouncers and bartenders and wait staff were awesome. Good times. But we watched Busby's Jr. change from an unknown, to the hotspot for the happy and beautiful, and finally to a thugged out, low life hellhole. Bad times, very bad times. Dragged here recently. Owners seem to be getting act together. Much improved, no stupid cover (rainy outside). 80s night on Thursday is fun. Usually though, even regulars have to pay the $10 cover and wait 45 minutes in line. So be careful, hit-and-miss. Is not yet a consistent alternative to the overpriced, touristy, tragically uncool Hollywood scene. Those in the neighborhood still have to drive west or southwest for the really good bars. Gets an extra star for still being far, far, far, far superior to the hellhole that is the original Busby's in Santa Monica, but the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, obviously. Keep trying though (and get rid of the velvet rope, you're not there yet)!

Go for the Scorpion Bowls and the dive bar atmosphere. Do not go for the food (unless you need it to absorb all that alcohol). It's a decent, blow-off-steam kind of party atmosphere when the club gets going.
